I remember reading this book when I was a young teenager but now I can't remember the title or author! It's driving me crazy. I remember this character named Jazz who had fire powers. There were also monsters that people were warned to avoid. I also remember this base of new people and one of the main characters got captured and locked up there. In the end the base burned (I think they blew it up?) and the doctor there was killed. I'm sorry if this isn't enough info. I tried my best.
