Questions/Problems in Completed Tasks

All posts for points must contain links to the books read. Please repost this task including links.

Jamie McGuire is not a Goodreads Author. Goodreads Authors will have "(Goodreads Author)" after the author's name on a book page, "Goodreads Author"..."
I just saw on her FB page that she removed herself as a goodreads author due to a fight. So she was when I posted this :) I will update my points though!

Please check your totals. I have you at 35 points. No need to do anything, just FYI so we can keep our records in sync. If you think I've missed something, please check through thi..."
Hi Kristina.
You appear to be correct. I went through the posts and could only find 4 of my 6 posts - because my Internet is slow, I think they just haven't uploaded properly. I am not trying to lie about my points :P
I will add my completed tasks and hopefully it works this time. I am sorry about any confusion.
Thank you

The Giver has the genre "children's" on its main page. Please see Rule #4 under Book Formats and Page Numbers Explained in the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 20..."
Hi Kristina.
I completely forgot to check this. Thank you for letting me know of this - I will try my hardest to keep an eye on this in the future.
I posted this (post #1210) to show the AR Bookfinder validation information:
"Rini
RE-POST
Task #5.3: Choir
Task Description: Read a book identified on GR as book #1 in a series
Book Edition: The Giver by Lois Lowry
*Claiming Goodreads Author Ticket*
Book has “Childrens” listed as a genre
Book found on AR Bookfinder and AR Bookfinder UK
IL Designation: MG (US) / MY (UK)
BL: 5.7 (US) / 5.7 (UK)
AR Points: 7.0 (US) / 7.0 (UK)"
Is this good enough?? I noticed afterwards that another person had their book validated (I think by the creator of the task). Do I need to do this and then re-post the re-post?
*I think it is fairly obvious I am new at this*
Thank you.

Hi...again.
I re-checked the Completed Tasks posts and these Questions/Problems posts to make sure that I hadn't lost points on any other tasks, and I have found all the tasks I have completed.
5.2 - message #359
5.3 - message #360 - original post for The Giver which needed to be reposted
5.3 - message #1210 - The Giver repost
5.10 - message #742
10.5 - message #570
20.6 - message #354
30.2 - message #656
So as long as my Task 5.3 post qualifies, I should be sitting on 75 points. I won't add any further Completed Tasks until this has been checked by you.
Thank you :)

If you are claiming a GR author, you must include the name of the author in your post.
If you are claiming a BB ticket, you must include the number of pages in the book.
Please repost indicating that you would like to claim tickets at the top of your post. Reposts must be complete so include book links and any necessary information (you can click edit and copy your post including the html code book links- just copying a post does not copy the links)

No, I know you're not trying to lie. ;-) And Goodreads does eat posts sometimes!
The kids info you've provided in your repost is just fine. Our points will match as soon as I get to post 1210.

Task 20.9, option 3 requires that you read a book by author Nicholas Sparks or a book found on his GRs bookshelves. I don't see The Legend of Sheba: Rise of a Queen on his shelves.

Task 25.6, option 4 requires that you include the cover in your post and specify the "something small." Please repost this task (make a NEW post in the completed task thread) including the required elements. Please DO NOT edit or delete post 1188.

All books claimed for points must be linked. Only one book in this two book task is linked. Please repost this task with links.

White Fang has the genre "children's" on its main page. Please review the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014 and the Posting Requirements effective Fall 2014 for information that must accompany any book with the genre "children's" on its main page and repost with the required information. To repost, please make a NEW post in the completed task thread. Do not edit or delete post 1204.

I'm so sorry, I could've sworn that I did. I reposted it!!!

Task 15.4, option B allows you to combine the criteria for the two parts of the task into one and read only one book. The Goodbye Witch satisfies both criteria -- it has the genre paranormal on its main page and there are books on the cover. So the other book you've claimed, One Book in the Grave, isn't really necessary to complete this task. Feel free to move it to a different task if you wish.

When claiming a big book ticket if you used an ebook or an audiobook you must include a link to the paper edition used to establish length. See the Rules #7 for determining page numbers

As of post 1243, I have the following tasks recorded for you:
5.3, 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 5.10
10.6, 10.9
20.2, 20.6, 20.10
For a total of 105. Please check through this thread for problems with posts and repost any of the ones mentioned (make a NEW post, please DO NOT edit or delete the old ones).

I'll just null and void it. I forget that HP is considered a child's book. LOL

That was one of the problems, but a bigger problem when reviewing tasks for Goodreads Author and Big Book tickets is only indicating a ticket request in a tally- adding the "current post" tally still makes it very difficult to find. Adding "Big Book" with the page numbers along with the book link makes your ticket request much easier to find.
Yes, please repost indicating at the top that you are reposting to claim a big book ticket. Reposts must be complete so make sure to include links and any necessary information.

If you want to claim a Goodreads Author you must specifically say so in your post - merely including a tally at the beginning or end of your post is not sufficient. Make sure to note "Goodreads Author," "GR author," or "GRA" in your post. The GRA claim must be made with the specific book posting - a list at the end or beginning of the post is not sufficient.

You're correct Holes will not work for a 10 point task. It can be used for a 5-point task, though, under the one time exception: e) ONE book with the IL designation of MG with a BL of at least 5.0 OR AR Pts of at least 5.0 will be allowed for ONE 5-point task. The AR points for Holes is 7.0.
ETA - Also, if you're wondering about editing post 1272 (where you claimed this book), you can edit it if you wish but since I'm already past that post in my records I won't see any edits that you do. Just please don't delete it since that shifts all the post numbers and really messes up the recording system.

Task 20.3 requires that the book you choose be at least 250 pages long. You've linked to the audio version of Like Water For Chocolate. As spelled out in the Rules of the Challenge, to determine the page count of an audiobook, we use the most popular edition of the Mass Market Paperback. The most popular MMB of Like Water for Chocolate has 242 pages.

Milky Way Railroad has the genre "children's" on its main page. Please review the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014 and the Posting Requirements effective Fall 2014 for information that must accompany any book with the genre "children's" on its main page and repost with the required information.

The Hobbit has the genre "children's" on its main page. Please review the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014 and the Posting Requirements effective Fall 2014 for information that must accompany any book with the genre "children's" on its main page and repost with the required information.

Task 10.8 requires you to include the cover in your post. Please repost this task with the required element.

We have more than one Emily in the challenge. Please put your Readerboard name at the TOP of you post and repost the tasks in post 1288.

Task 25.1 requires that you state the continent on which you live as well as the country and continent of each of your books when you post. Please repost this task with the required information.

Reposting for GRA is fine (and that's what you need to do) but, please, state at the top of your post that you are reposting for Goodreads Author tickets (or if you're doing it for Big Books, please state that). Otherwise, I think you're claiming a new task and I go through the entire the verification process all over again. Or, in this case, mark the posts as problem posts because there are no links. BTW, you'll need to provide DLMRose with links to the books for her to count the GRAs or BBs, too.

Otherwise, I think you're claiming a new task and I go through the entire the verification process all over again. With thousands of posts to go through in a challenge, checking something unnecessarily is not very time-efficient. ;-)

Please do not repost tasks that do not have problems. If you think I've missed a task, please try to narrow it down to what might be missing. It's helpful to keep a running total in your posts as you claim tasks. Then, if your points get too far out of sync with mine, I can let you know and we can narrow down the problem. There are hundreds of people participating in the challenge and thousands of posts to go through. The more you can do to narrow down problems in your own posts the easier it is on the moderators.

Task 25.7, option 6 requires a book of NONFICTION. One Life, One Love appears to be a novel (i.e., fiction).

You've already posted task 20.2. I now realize that you're reposting to get a BB ticket. Please put that at the top of the posts so I don't go through the verification twice. That will help keep record-keeping as easy as possible. Thanks!

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea has the genre "children's" on its main page. You can use it for task 5.10 - Independent Study: Read a book of your choice. Note: Books with the genre "children" or "kids" NOT found in AR Bookfinder MAY be used for this task.

Ah blast. Just when I was doing so well! I'll find another book.

On the readerboard, it looks like I do not have credit for task #15.3. It was post 600, I believe. I did not see any problems with it on this thread. Let me know if I overlooked something.
Thanks!

Ah, you were the one left out! Someone deleted a post in the set of 50 that included post 600. This caused a shift in all the numbers (which is why we ask people to NEVER delete posts in the completed tasks thread). Thanks for letting me know! I've added in your points and they'll show up in the next update.

Emily - you can ask on the task help thread for that question: 15.9 Candy Corn :)
