The Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014 state:
d) Books that have an IL designation of MG MUST ALSO have a BL of 5.0 (or higher) AND AR Pts of 7.0 (or higher)
e) ONE book with the IL designation of MG with a BL of at least 5.0 OR AR Pts of at least 5.0 will be allowed for ONE 5-point task

The AR BookFinder information for All-of-a-Kind Family is IL: MG - BL: 4.9 - AR Pts: 5.0. The one time exception allows either the BL OR the AR point value to dip below the standard set for children's books. Books that have a BL of less than 5.0 AND an AR point value below 7.0 cannot be used.

Hi Kristina, is there a typographical error in the instructions? You mentioned this:

I was thinking that since the AR points for my book = 5.0, even though the BL dips below 5.0, I could use the book for the task - unless the digit in the rules should have been 7 instead of 5 for AR Pts?

I asked the question in the general help thread and as long as ONE of the values (BL or AR) is 5.0 or higher, and the level is MG or higher, the book CAN be used for ONE 5-point task.

That's how I understand it. The AR pts for All-of-a-Kind Family = 5.0 so I'm not quite understanding how it doesn't fit for task 5.3?
