They certainly influenced my opinion of her. I didn’t know what to make of her at the time. She didn’t seem like a mistress and her connection to Virgil wasn’t established yet. I was utterly confused.
It seemed like an odd addition to the story and didn't really end up adding much, if anything. I never considered her as a true red herring because she never had access to Charles' house.
More like a confusing diversion. Her only role was to answer the question of why he did the Adderlys helped him get the job.
It was a weird red-herring. It seemed like a redundant repetition of Tom Brandt's murder and the idea that unmarried women who give in to depression and hysteria become stalkers.
