So far I really like Daisy. She's smart but she's also very troubled. Loved the story about her submitting the paper in school about how Christopher Columbus did not discover America... She was so right, sounds like something I would do haha!

Billy can't handle being a father, you really feel for him because of how much he struggled with addiction and also his relationship with his father. I think he was afraid of his daughter Julia being ashamed of him like he was of his father. And afraid of letting Camilla down... Really heartbreaking stuff. Billy seems like a good guy, just troubled.

I really enjoy all of the discussion and conversation surrounding sounds and how they argued about making different lyrics or rifts in the songs to get them just right. Probably my favorite thing about the book.
Makes you wish this was a real band, I want to hear all of these songs!
Daisy Jones is struggling still with pills and won't listen to anyone about how bad she's doing.
Billy and Daisy seem to have a connection, I hope that's not the direction this goes in because they are obviously not good for each other? :/

I can't believe he is so careless with her; encouraging that they jump from a rooftop! Leaving her essentially to die as he believes she may be overdosing. What a piece of shit.

I loved the press/magazine about the band and all of the fans being like "hey we know billy and daisy are together just tell us!" I mean, you're thinking it the whole book anyway.
I still don't like them together tho. I'm not sure my mind will change.

Also, I'm kind of waiting for a kind of "twist" in the story but there's not much of that yet?

And I really love Karen. When she knew she didn't want to give up on her dreams or make sacrifices to raise a child when Graham also wouldn't do the same, I was in tears. I'm so glad she knew herself well enough to know what she wanted despite struggling with doing what other people wanted her to do. Feel like that story line made me really love Karen. And Camilla is such a good friend even tho she's not always with the band, she really shows up for people. Those are some great characters! Karen started out as a woman who looked up to Daisy Jones for not letting people tell her who to be, and by the end she was just as strong for herself.

Really loved that the author is Julia, Billy's oldest daughter. I thought that was really sweet. And I think Camilla is quite the hero of this story. She's been the reason for Billy to stay sober, and she's the one that says what Daisy needs to hear so that she will go on to rehab and get sober. I'm sad that the story is taking place because Camilla dies, and the letter at the end to her daughters... I mean, I don't think that was within character necessarily because it felt like she's encouraging them to have a relationship not just "write me a song". But it was a great story nonetheless.

The beginning thru Seven Eight Nine - 26%

(view spoiler)[Chapters alternate with interview material related to Daisy and interview material with The Six. In Seven Eight Nine the interviews involve everyone. This is an interesting way to tell the story after the fact and I'm glad it doesn't do a lot of foreshadowing. I like discovering everyone's take on things as they interpreted it at the time, seeing things in many perspectives, but not alluding to how it was going to end.

As far as The Six's rise and their lifestyle, it seems predictable as a band story, especially Billy's and his attitude of being in charge of the band but unable to control himself. Daisy's life is less so. Her life and where it goes is very groupie with an undertone of 'I should get whatever I want' and 'I shouldn't have to bend to get what I want' and 'I know what's best.' Both are set for a clash. (hide spoiler)]

This is an awkward book from breaking into quarters.

I really sympathize with Billy's situation, trying to stay on the wagon and knowing that Daisy lives a life that could break his resolve. At least Daisy seems to realize that she needs to shield Billy from the drink and drugs. Hopefully that continues. Daisy is not my favorite character and I hope there is a change to her lifestyle in the future.

I like the dynamics of Billy and Daisy figuring out what songs to do and how to do them, especially the push and pull of recording Impossible Woman.

I know there is a blow up coming because obviously the band stops recording. It will be interesting to see what causes it.

Well, I'm glad Billy is still sober and faithful, though he is drawn to Daisy. I had hopes for Daisy to straighten herself out, but I think if the call about Teddy's death hadn't come in she would have put a move on Billy. Then she went off the wagon again. I'm pulling for Billy.

As far as Graham and Karen, I had a feeling they were going to come to a bad end. They had very different ideas of their relationship and the pregnancy brought it to a head.

(view spoiler)[ The end was pretty tame. Camilla giving Daisy a shove out the door and to straighten up. Pete leaving the band. Karen and Graham not being able to work together. And Billy getting saved from his downfall by a fan who understood what was happening and took his drink away and asked to see pictures of his kids.

I'm glad Billy stayed in the business writing songs, Eddie got his recognition as a music producer, and Karen continued doing what she loved. I kind of would have liked to know if Billy did call Daisy, but I don't think it would have been more than a reminiscence at that point.

Overall a good book but I liked Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo better. Liked that the author was Julia.

Finished (view spoiler)[I didn't think much about the author of the piece, so that was a nice way to round it all out - it's someone who has access to most of the key players and would be more likely to help them be honest.

I cannot get enough of Camila, who's so patient and willing to have hope and know that her marriage, and more importantly, Billy, won't be perfect all the time. The ending when she was finally the one to talk sense into Daisy, after being there for Karen with her abortion, that was unexpected but I really appreciated that it had to be her. Also, her letter to the girls for Billy... 💝💝💝
