I first read this book in the mid 1990's -- it was probably published around then as well, maybe a little earlier. It was a paperback published in English.

I remember it being about a group of teenage friends who start dying suddenly...I vaguely recall the murders happening in their dreams or while they're asleep, and one of the deaths had something to do with orcas? If I recall correctly, the killer turned out to be the main girl's best friend, possibly even her twin brother, who was trying to keep her all to himself in some way? Maybe because she was going off to college and he wasn't?

It's possible I'm conflating multiple books here but I'm about 85% sure this is all the same book.

I know it is NOT any Christopher Pike or RL Stine book. I'm fairly certain it's also not Richie Tankersley Cusick but I wouldn't swear to that one.
