ABANDONED. YA - Teen girl gets in trouble and goes to live with dad on summer, starts running/jogging, meets boy falls in love

I read this book somewhere between 1989 and 1994, I think. It was from my school library and I would call it young adult genre. It was about a teenaged girl who got in some trouble and was made to go live with her father who was strict. She was angry about it and I remember she smoked cigarettes and would go "running" to get away from dad. She stopped smoking as she started loving running. She also met a boy...he was a little older, maybe 19 or 20 and she started falling in love with him. I remember he played softball with friends. I want to say the title was something like "That One Summer" or something like that. Also, I feel like the author had initials for a first name.
