Elsa (elsatheravenclaw) | 10 comments Hi team, me again :) after the brilliant outcome last time where someone helped me find my long lost book, I'm trying the other book I don't remember at all.

It's a series but I only remember one storyline, about a little girl who sees a tapestry in a relative's house and a girl in the tapestry looks sad or something and she looks closer and gets pulled into the tapestry and helps solve a problem and gets a cool outfit and lives in a palace - a kind of Egyptian/Arabian palace/setting.

Something like that. I remember I did a show and tell on it when I was very small and there was no author that I could find, just the title which was something along the lines of lost princesses or something. For obvious reasons when I Google this it just comes up with the little princess etc etc.

Any help would be awesome thank you!

Elsa, around what year did you read this book? A range of years is fine. This will help narrow down the search.

How is the main girl? Does anyone else get transported with her through the tapestry? Who does she first meet in the other world?

Christine | 140 comments This sounds really familiar to me, and I'll try to remember it. (My childhood was the 70s, though, so maybe what I remember would be older than what you're looking for.)

Could it have been one story in a book of stories, maybe? (I'm googling books and only seeing one, but the description does not match. Time and the Tapestry: A William Morris Adventure, by John Plotz. No princess in that one.)

Elsa (elsatheravenclaw) | 10 comments It could be! I really don't remember much more than this, I seen to remember one in a series but it could we'll have been one in a book. I'm not sure when it was published either, I might gander at later 90s early 2000s? Thank you for trying to remember! :)

Angela | 625 comments The main character is a boy instead of a girl, but just in case, what about The Boy and The Lion by Carol Barker The Boy and The Lion by Carol Barker? It was also published as The Boy and the Lion on the Wall. The plot summary on World Cat says, "Curious about the sad girl in the tapestry on his wall, a little boy suddenly finds himself within the picture on an adventure with a magic lion to rescue the unhappy princess," so it partially matches your description.

Elsa (elsatheravenclaw) | 10 comments Do you know what, I think it might be this book! I read it so long ago I forgot more than I remembered it seems. I can't for the life of me find it to read it, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for it and report back. Thank you very very much Angela!

Here's a book review of The Boy and The Lion by Carol Barker - Angela's suggestion - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Do the images look familiar?

message 8: by Elsa (new)

Elsa (elsatheravenclaw) | 10 comments Ah no, unfortunately not. It's a similar premise, tapestry and princess but I feel sure it was one or two girls that went in, and possibly more juvenile. I think they had to make the princess happy too or solve a problem with her but only one as far as I remember. Thank you for that though!

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Maybe, Horsemaster Horsemaster by Marilyn Singer ?

message 10: by Elsa (new)

Elsa (elsatheravenclaw) | 10 comments @kris hello! Apologies I haven't replied in months. I think I read it first around 2004 maybe, and then reread around 2007? 2006-2007. I don't know if they were new around that time, but I clearly remember that there was no author anywhere on the book that I could find. I'm not sure how old the main girl is, but I think there might have been two of them and I think they meets a young boy first, who takes them to the palace and they uncover a plot they need to foil. My memory of it is very hazy though! Thank you

message 12: by Elsa (new)

Elsa (elsatheravenclaw) | 10 comments @rosa it's not no, not to put a lable on it but I think it's more young girl-y?

Fab! Just to confirm, that's the Little Princesses series by Katie Chase, which starts with The Whispering Princess? It does sound like the book Elsa is looking for!
