Please get in touch whenever you're ready if this is something you'd be interested in! :)

If you need more info, please let me know. I'd appreciate a beta read.

I am hoping to find a beta reader for Imagining Violet Married, a counter-trendy historical fiction epistolary novel that is squeaky clean. How uncool is that!
Living with her in-laws, dealing with her first pregnancy, acclimatizing to Canadian customs and weather, Imagining Violet Married is an intimate look at a young English bride's life in Toronto at the turn of the 20th century. While her husband is forging a brilliant career as a concert pianist in a city that is rapidly becoming the musical centre of Canada, Violet's life is full of small domestic challenges. All this makes for a lively correspondence as Violet writes about her life to her close friends and family. This is a sequel to the recently published Imagining Violet.
I need help with continuity issues. Do I somehow need more explanation of the various characters? Be happy to send 25 pages as a pdf. Mary E. Hughes

I have non-fiction
About 30K works near a comeplete first draft.
The Secret Messages of Birthmarks:
Do you know that birthmark shaped like a dead president on your tush? Well, it has a message for you and it’s like an easy button for your life!
Messages give us strength and there's no exception for the message your birthmark carries.
If you have a birthmark I bet you are a bit like me, as a child, I spent the better part of my time in the bathtub trying to scrub my birthmarks off. Just like the other 80% of the population in this world born with a birthmark, I thought there was something wrong with me, that I should be ashamed of how I looked.
I'd like you to be a bit openminded for a moment. How would you feel if someone gave you an easy button for your life? Something that would tell you about your biggest struggles and how to magically shift them into strengths?
The Secret Messages of Birthmarks is a book that unveils the secrets to understanding the messages of your birthmarks, and how to use those messages to create a powerful healing experience with your thoughts and emotions.
Just imagine looking in the mirror and loving yourself the way you were created! How would you feel if you could smile every time you looked at your birthmark knowing you are one of the lucky people in this world who's body gave you a secret message of success.
The Secret Message of Birthmarks will reveal those secret messages and more!

Concealed within the invader’s ranks is an alien mage who plays a double game and can’t be beaten. The fate of Everwell and the world will reside in the hands of a beta mage in an alpha confrontation. Luckily, Silvie is not alone. Writing my first hobby novel, looking for a beta reader to read the first few chapters, I have more to send if you are still interested after those. Really looking for constructive criticism for my plot, I'm only about 45,000 words in and want to test the waters.
My book is about a couple who have spoken online on again off again for years but never met, they're in love but they're just not very good in relationships, the girl is flighty and ghosts the guy repeatedly and he goes a bit crazy and kidnaps her and it's about the adjustment and life following this kidnapping. There are consensual sex scenes but pretty vanilla.
Would love someone to bounce ideas off!

I'm seeking at least two beta readers for a supernatural ghost story. It comes in at a little over two thousand words.
A little more about my story?
Two men. Each from a different time. One from the fifteenth century suffering from lost love, and the other in the Victorian era fulfilling a ridiculous bet. How do their paths cross? Read to find out!
If you're interested, please email me at katdevittauthor@gmail.com. I check my email way more often then I do my messages on GoodReads.
Hoping to hear from you!
Kat

PLOT: Brooklyn and Ryder is a realistic detail of high school and the problems teens faces such as drug usage, underage drinking, depression and death. This book is edgy and takes on the approach of mental illness and how mental illness can be overseen as not a teenager problem. The readers will see how two different teenagers face their senior year. Brooklyn and Ryder is told through two point of views. Without dealing with his grief over his parents and brother's death, Ryder starts locking everything up that he used to be and change into a different version of himself. Ryder Cambridge is on his last straw, stuck on a parole sentence and on his way to be a high school dropout his senior year but when he’s given another chance to change his ways, he meets Brooklyn Covers the goodie too shoes of his class. Brooklyn Covers, best friend Ava slowly turns on her. It takes Brooklyn on a downward spiral that nothing can seem to stop the rollercoaster of betrayal and depression.

Do you have any upcoming openings? I have a 73K RomCom with some Adult content.
Here is the back cover blurb:
Drama-queen Sydney Shaw flies to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for her brother, Dean’s, Fourth of July wedding. Hilarity starts with lost luggage and goes downhill from there. Literally. Things seem to be looking up when she finds herself attracted to Dean’s handsome friend, the mysterious Travis Wainwright. Their connection is fast and real, something Sydney’s completely unprepared for, because she’s going home to Florida in less than a week. Fireworks fly both in the sky and in her heart.
Then, a brutal accident turns everything upside down. When Sydney discovers it may have been intentional, she must decide if she’s ready to trade flip-flops for flannel to be with the man she loves. Secrets and unbelievable tales of love, scorn and betrayal worthy of two boxes of tissues reveal a world she never saw coming.
I can do a swap with you if you have something in the works as well. I use the Track Changes function in Word and provide a separate detailed summary page also.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.

I suspect this is not your cup of tea, but I'm going to throw out a blurb and see if you have any interest in beta reading this MS:
Grinding out serial Westerns and cut rate gangster films in late 1930s Hollywood, Clarion Pictures is a studio not quite on Poverty Row, but definitely in an adjacent neighborhood. When a cache of jewelry and cash goes missing from Clarion’s safe, studio boss Cornelius Klinker calls on his nephew, bit actor Charlie King, to investigate. In spite of being a devotee of hard-boiled crime fiction, Charlie is reluctant to play detective himself…until his uncle dangles a prime role under his nose and Charlie finds himself knee deep in the search for the culprit.
It’s a mystery that would challenge even his PI heroes, but then Sam Spade probably never had to contend with the loopy assortment of friends and family that distract Charlie from his investigation. Whether he’s trying to shield his beloved mother from the advances of a shady German industrialist, reunite a pair of broken hearted friends, or protect his naïve cousin from a conniving platinum blonde, there’s no lack of complications to frustrate and bewilder the good-hearted Charlie. Throw in a child star with a penchant for mayhem, an obsessive, lovesick dog and the unwanted attentions of a sexpot starlet, and it’s no wonder that Charlie finds it so difficult to focus on the case at hand. With his uncle’s deadline looming and scant clues to be had, can Charlie recover the stolen loot and nab the breakthrough role he’s been waiting for?
King of the Buckaroo Boys is the second book in a series featuring protagonist Charlie King (the first book, King of Hollywood, is unavailable for reading due to ongoing rewrites). Just looking for general feedback, and especially notes on structure. If you're interested, shoot me an email and I'll send you the MS.

I hope you're still looking for beta reads! I'm looking for beta readers for my 110k near-future, slightly dystopian SF novel. At this point, I am less interested in line edits and more interested in receiving big picture feedback, though whatever strikes you as the reader is what I need to hear.
The short story: Tenjō Edwards is a martial arts instructor (and almost ex-professor of History) living in a near-future Los Angeles when a nuclear attack forces him to act first to protect his daughters and the others at his dojo. Once he knows they are safe, he decides he must also navigate a maze of radioactive fallout and martial law to locate his lost wife somewhere in the evacuation zone. Written from third-person (limited) point of view, there's a little violence, some dystopia, and an unobserved rape in a story that occurs over two days.
If you are interested, please email me at tonchyaku-at-gmail-dot-com and I'll send you the manuscript in MS Word.
Thanks,
Robert

I have a finished 97K YA Fantasy and Science Fiction novel called "The League of Light" if you're interested. A story of war, vengeance and family drama that doesn't shy away from the dark realities of life. At first it may seem as a military sci-fi with dystopian elements but at heart, it is epic fantasy. I would like you to comment on world building, characters, their development, plot and give me an overall opinion on the story.
Here's the blurb:
THE WORLD IS DYING.
For seventeen years the Universal War between humans and wizards has torn entire planets. The Black King is winning. Soon King Kerrasar will reign supreme in a world where no one is safe.
The only hope people have lives on the Capital, Planet Earth, unaware of who they truly are. But soon they will know. Soon each one shall bear the curse and name of a Saviour. And the world's fate will hang on their shoulders. In Kerrasar's world, though, there is no place for heroes, only darkness or death.
