Whatcha Reading in March?

How about discussing what books we're all reading?

I am currently reading Blessings by Anna Quindlen. It's my first book by this author. It took me about 30 pages to get into her style of writing, but now I am enjoying it.

It's about a somewhat bitter, rich elderly woman who takes in a stranger (an ex-convict) to act as gardener/caretaker of her property. Then one night some abandons a box with a new born baby. The gardener decides to keep the baby and then the elderly woman conspires to help him out.

It's really a fascinating story once I adapted to the writing style.

So, what are you reading?

Right now I'm about 1/2 way through "A Widow for One Year" by John Irving. I got it (from PBS) for my "I" author for this year. It's a little odd, I'm not really sure where it's headed, but I'm enjoying it.

I'm reading Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs. I found one of her books at a friends house when I was spending the weekend there. It was interesting but it was a book way down the line in a series of books, so when I got home I picked up the first one (bought it from a bookstore).

I've been reading a lot of fluff lately and I can tell. This book is already a little more cerebral than most of the stuff I've read in the last 2 years.

Actually, I usually juggle reading more than one book at a time. Does anyone else do that? My mother used to say I have ADD.

i'm reading Rachel Gibson's I'm In No Mood For Love. It's an easy read and I'm in the mood for easy.

I'm reading The Woman in White, The Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, and listening to Vanishing Acts on CD. Then I'll be moving on to Live Bait by P J Tracy, The Constant Princess, and Thirteen Problems by Agatha Christie.

(Except for Vanishing Acts, I'm reading them for book discussions).

You were right Kylee! Excellent book, even if it was a slow starter.

On to Patchwork Planet by Anne Tyler (took 3 deals to finally get it to my mailbox). So far, so good.

I've been reading an unusual British mystery by Denise Mina, "Field of Blood." It has been kind of slow reading and I've almost put it down a couple of times. But I had read really good reviews about the series, so I'm plugging away. I'm about 2/3 through. I'll let you know if my faith is justified!

I'm reading A New Earth by Tolle (Oprah's pick) but that is slow going and takes concentration.

I just finished Three in Death by JD Robb and next up is 7th Heaven by James Patterson. That is usually a very fast read.

after that I have no idea but have over 200 books in my TBR pile so should be able to find something!

i am halfway into Consuming Kids which is a fantastic read for parents and anyone concerned with the media controlling children!

ive started South of the border, West of the sun. but sadly its pretty boring. the narrator is just a really horny guy and its not really going anywhere.

and i promise to start My Antonia this month! maybe even finish it before april!

I'm about 100 pages into Elizabeth Aston's "True Darcy Spirit". I wasn't into it at first because it seemed very similar in plot to the second book, but I'm enjoying it now.

I finished "A Widow for One Year" by John Irving. Then I started and finished "Duplicity Dogged the Dachshund" by Blaize Clement. Now I'm reading "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" by Milan Kundera. My cousin, Danielle, highly recommended the Kundera book, we'll see. =)

Victoria, I read My Antonia a couple of years ago. It was an incredible book.

Finished True Darcy Spirit by Elizabeth Aston. Started a little slow, but improved. Also read Non Campus Mentis (college student history paper excerpts)--absolutely hilarious!

I am onto a light read "Morality for Beautiful Girls " by Alexander McCall Smith. Anyone a fan of MMa Ramotswe?

Today was chilly and grey so I sat down with the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. What a wonderful children's book! Has anyone read it?

I've finished a few more and right now I'm reading Death in a Station Wagon by Jon Katz and of course still the Oprah book pick (slow going with that one) and also have a study guide for a bible study called The Frazzled Female by Cindi Wood

I started "Heart-Shaped Box" by Joe Hill yesterday. I couldn't settle last night so I also started "The Many Lives Secret Sorrows of Josephine B." by Sandra Gulland.

The Joe Hill wasn't creepy yet, but I knew it was just a matter of time so I didn't want that to be what I was thinking about while I went to sleep. It's getting pretty interesting now though. =)
