David The theme of 127 Hours: Between A Rock and a Hard Place is sort of complicated. The main theme is trusting in your friends and always let people know where you’re going. This is supported by basically the entire book. Aron only tells his friends the state he’s going to and nothing else, they’ve invited him to a party there, but they don’t even know if he can make it there. This branches out into a lesson on to be less reckless and more cautious, as him blatantly stepping on a boulder wedged between two walls even if there’s evidence it’s been there a long time is a really dumb idea. There’s also a hint of sacrifice and how it’s necessary in life, if he hadn’t been willing to sacrifice his arm by cutting it off he would’ve died down there. And there’s one more, an individual is very small compared to nature and the world itself and once we realize that, you gain more inner happiness, and peace.
