Romance with a ghost uncle and a cat?

I read a quirky romance novel about an uncle that dies. His niece and her ex-boyfriend inherit the house (I think). There is a small group of people that are also interested in the house or something. There are a lot of side scenes where the uncle talks to the cat about how he wants the niece and the ex to end up together. The niece and her ex do end up together. I read it between 2007 and 2009. Unfortunately, that's all I can remember. I loved that book.
