Alexis Harding | 1386 comments That really is information overload. One of the reasons I stopped reading newspapers.🤪

Bernard Smith | 3030 comments Good to know Einstein is right again.

I cannot comment on the possibility, but much science fiction has later become science fact.

I love the "Styrofoam world" !

But Cheops? Surely that is the name of an AFRICAN pharaoh?

Bernard Smith | 3030 comments It is a forced acronym, CHaracterising ExOPlanets Satellite.

message 857: by G.R. (new)

G.R. Paskoff (grpaskoff) | 82 comments That is a terrible acronym. Surely someone could have come up with something better. How about:

Satellite for EXoPlAneT CHaracterization....;)

The Kepler Mission has been essentially doing the same thing for years, though a lot of their focus has been on finding Earth-like planets.

Kepler Missions

A cloud of dust pretending to be a planet? Can we trust nothing anymore?

The engineers at NASA have developed a high-pressure ventilator prototype specifically tailored to help coronavirus patients, according to the agency https://t.co/3uIiieKJTJ

message 871: by Bradley (new)

Bradley Simon | 1028 comments A case of too little too late? An alarming study showed a miserable ratio of ventilators to population around the world.

message 878: by Bernard (new)

Bernard Smith | 3030 comments No. It was invented either by God or evolution. But they live in the USA.

What if Darwin was God?

message 881: by Grasshopper, Administrator (new)

Grasshopper Bot (daisyking) | 6902 comments Mod
Well Jason, I guess he was God to the scientific community 🤔

message 882: by Bernard (new)

Bernard Smith | 3030 comments Certainly he has godlike status. But we should also remember Alfred Russel Wallace. He had similar ideas to Darwin, and his publications prompted Darwin to finally publish his works.

message 883: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Black | 1737 comments So err, it was Alfred all along? Dang! I didn't see that comin.

message 884: by Bernard (new)

Bernard Smith | 3030 comments Ha ha! This isnt crime fiction ....

The consensus is that they developed their ideas independently. Something held Darwin back from publishing, perhaps his religious convictions.

message 885: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice Williams | 2516 comments Aha! God wins again!

message 886: by Bernard (new)

Bernard Smith | 3030 comments Indeed. God has a lot to answer for.
