We'll read a total of 7 books for this each Reading Sprint. A book a day. The books will be read in the order of the highest votes and so on (or whatever order they'll be written in the next comments). Participants will update their progress each day after reading the book and each book will be discussed on the day that it's read.

You'll update your progress the same way you did for other challenges (e.g. if you read 5 books of out 7-you're progress will be 5/7).

Don't forget to add spoiler tags!

Participants and Books will be mentioned below:

P.S. It's okay if you don't have all the books. Participation is what matters :)
We will try to provide free download links for books though.

From May 1st to May 10th I'm going to a meditation camp. No interaction with the the outer world is allowed there. They don't even allow books there!!! It's just us and our thoughts. And I mention that we can't utter a word in the 7 days, like no talking to person sitting beside you or anyone. We can only speak on the last day. So that's how I'm gonna miss it. Damn!

read it twice @Grace, that sounds fascinating. Would love to know about your experience, feels very hard to do.

Its known as Vippasana. You can google it. It's nationwide in India and I guess they also have some international branches of it. Actually many people come here to attend the course. It's not really easy to get in though . They have limited seats . My father is an old student (he has done like 12-14 courses) so I got in quickly. If you wanna know more see this:

Dee (mandeepkaur3) | 91 comments Aqsa wrote: "Who's starting this?"

Me.
This is the first time I am reading from this author and I am already loving it. Everyone seems to have read Sherlock Holmes stories atleast once in their lives. I never understood what the hype was all about but I guess now I am getting it. The character is so smart and intelligent . I have just finished first two chapters and I am already loving it.
What about you? Are you going to read it?

message 18: by Amy (new)

Amy Pitts (apitts269) I just finished A Study In Scarlet and it was such a good short read! I love all things Sherlock but have not read many of the originals. This one was certainly worth the couple of hours it took me to get through it!

I didn't start it yet, Mandy :/ I was really looking forward to this sprint, but a book I recently read has me in a book hangover.

I got on a Sherlock kick for a bit that started with the Robert Downey Jr movies, the Sherlock on BBC, and finally Elementary. I love that the reader is given the same clues throughout the story as Sherlock is given but it ends up being his skills that put the story together. It flowed so well and was written with just the same speed and intensity as the on screen adaptations. Sherlock really is one of the best literary characters, in my opinion, in that he is able to cross time periods and even continents with ease!

I got the kick from Robert Downey movies too. He's an amazing actor! Then, I moved to Benedict Cumberbatch movie and then BBC. He really is an amazing character. His attention to detail never stops fascinating me!

P.S. Amy, please update your progress as 1/7 and state the book you finished so that it's easier for me to keep track of everyone :)

Wow, you are racing through :) How was the second book? Anything you'd like to share?

message 30: by Amy (new)

Amy Pitts (apitts269) I am starting a buddy read tonight so I wanted to get a little ahead 😉 I wasn't sure if it was ok to share yet but it was GREAT! It was very rare for me on two levels 1. I am not a sci-fi person and 2. I have such a hard time reading a book after I have seen the movie. This one was a game changer in both respects. The book flows so well that it is easy to almost forget that Beatelgeuse (sp?) is not something I am accustomed to. You have the destruction of Earth but rather than it being a catastrophic event that the rest of the book is spent recovering from, we get a story that is light-hearted in that respect. I found myself laughing at times because of the quick wit of the narrator and that Arthur is clueless as to his future but yet just goes with the flow supposedly knowing it is his only option. Great read!

@Amy It's alright :) We usually do stick to the order, but we also understand :) Hope your BR goes really well :) That's amazing! I haven't seen it so that's a plus, but usually I'm always up for a book I've watched the adaptation of. I'm glad you enjoyed the book in spite of all those low expectations!

Shannara (httpwwwshannarareads2com) | 149 comments I just finished A Study in Scarlet and I really liked it. I just love Sherlock Holmes though lol... I’ll admit the second part threw me off for a minute there until I figured out where it was going.

Sorry I’m a little behind! My little one has had a really high fever for the past couple days so I had no time to read. I’ll try to catch up now!!

message 42: by Amy (new)

Amy Pitts (apitts269) Well I am still 2/7. I just could not get into If Cats Disappeared from the World. It seemed like a great concept but I could not get interested no matter how far I read so I gave up :( Oh well, too many good books and too little time! Looking forward to Tuesdays with Morrie though. It has been a TBR for a very long time!

Feedback Question: Tell us if taking the books two days at a time rather than one is going better or not. Also, does it seem like it's taking too long to finish the Sprint, or are you relatively relaxed? Do you feel like you might read more because of a relaxed time frame, or does this not affect the number of books you'd read with us?

Let us know if there is anything else you might wanna share.

message 47: by Saarah (new)

Saarah Niña (saarahnina) | 197 comments Hey, I'm starting Tuesdays w/ Morrie now. Then, will come online after to discuss.

message 48: by Saarah (new)

Saarah Niña (saarahnina) | 197 comments I really like this book-Tuesdays With Morrie, and Albom's ideas behind it. I'm reminded of the fictional The One-in-a-Million Boy

I like how naturally it reads and how we can identify with both characters. I also know it won't end happily and that hurts...

Anyone else reading? Did you have a teacher like Morrie?

I'm reading an ebook version on my kindle, I'm at 40% so no spoilers please! :D

message 49: by Saarah (new)

Saarah Niña (saarahnina) | 197 comments Feedback Answer: I like the 2 days so far. I think it's better suited for some books, particularly weighty titles like Tuesdays With Morrie. Allows you time to process rather than power through and it should mean those who are new to Sprints have time to get used to it.

I like that it's more relaxed, definitely feels more flexible too! I'm a fan.

Of course, we don't know which titles are more on the emotional side, before we begin them, so I think it's safe to give all titles 2 days each. Allows readers to catch up too!

message 50: by Amy (new)

Amy Pitts (apitts269) This is my first one but I do enjoy the 2 days. It pushes me but not so much that I give up 😊
