(view spoiler)[I actually didn't get a romance vibe between Layla and Jake. I don't even know if I would really consider them friends...He was helping her, yes, but at the same time he's still one of the guards in the camp where her and her family are being held against their will (hide spoiler)]

Finally going to get to this one-first impressions in chapter 1, I like the writing style and can already see how messed up this dystopia is. It's scary how much this seems like it could happen.
