One of the most difficult books to read EVER in terms of subject matter. The books takes place during the conflict in former Yugoslavia during the early 90's. The main character is a woman who is imprisoned, dehumanized, and repeatedly raped by enemy soldiers, eventually becoming impregnated. Horrific stuff.

The prose is sparing, but effective. Overall, a well-written book about a different view of the atrocities of war.
