Thanks, Janice :)

Margo | 11628 comments My sentence is:

"She died calmly; and her countenance expressed affection even in death."

I selected the phrase "her countenance " and today I started reading Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter because it features a womans face.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I started reading my book last night. It is by a science fiction author that I have never really cared for. I always felt that I was not his target audience. I think the problem was that I was not old enough and had not read enough to appreciate his humor, and quirky writing style. Up the Line is a time travel story. The story is set in the future (2059). The term "up the line" means going back in the past. He is talking about time paradoxes and what happens when people try to change the past - like poisoning Christ in year 11 or rescuing Hitler in 1945. There are two different kinds of Time folks. The guys that guard time are the Time Patrol and then there are guys, like the MC in the story, that take tourists on guided tours to events in the past.

So funny. I read some more last night and a name was mentioned (a real historical figure) and I actually knew who he was - because I read about him in a book about Turkey last year. The guys who take tourists on tours into the past are called Time Couriers. The MC is assigned to Istanbul.

I decided to read a book that is a horror or a thriller (the quote sounds threatening) with a threatening female character. The book should be immediately available and waiting to be read...

I decided to read the thriller My Lovely Wife which was ready to read on my Kindle. The bonus points will be sparse I think..

Kristie | 19143 comments My line was The front door opened, and Nathan felt a jolt of horror at the sight of his mother.

I was originally thinking of using the word mother, but I decided to go with horror instead. I've started Burnt Offerings, which is listed as horror genre on its main page.

Tricia (triciareadsitall) | 900 comments The closest print book to me is Macbeth which my daughter is reading for school. The first line on page 45 is as follows:

Lady Macbeth: Who dares receive it other, as we shall make our griefs and clamor roar upon his death?

My first thought is "What?" LOL Gotta love Shakespeare. Now I'm off to find a book.

message 111: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (triciareadsitall) | 900 comments Ok, so finding a book for this one was pretty simple. I though of Hamish Macbeth, the Scottish detective, and it turns out there's a book in the series that fits my sentence really well.

I'm going to read Death of a Gentle Lady. It has death in the title. The main character has the same last name as the character speaking in the Shakespeare book. Finally, the "gentle lady", according to the book description, is well-liked and respected by the townspeople but is more than what she seems. I think the same can be said of Lady Macbeth in the Shakespeare play. I'm not sure how it will do on points yet, but it's short and available from my library.

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Sounds like a great match, Tricia.

message 113: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I started read my book The Consuming Fire as the line I chose had fire in it. I'm starting to think I might not get it read in time though.

Easter break? That's what I am relying on. And just found out Lexx has made plans for us every night.

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments I haven't started reading my book yet. Ack!

message 116: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments My line was: "The crowd burst into applause", and in the book I am reading the main characters are at this moment in a crowded refugees camp. I might use it if they stay there long enough.

Not sure yet. Tomorrow I'll definitely have some time as Rob is playing table tennis and doing some stuff at the workshop. But not sure about the rest of the weekend. We are forecast some lovely weather. We've got to move the boat one day and I think we're planning on having a BBQ with our boaty neighbours.

Did better than me. I think I still have 60% to go.

Jenn | 3029 comments Yes, yes I do Janice :P
And, Rusalka, I believe that the completion badge is only one of the carrots, so I hope that you are at least enjoying your book (before I stick my foot in mouth . . .). Because, the carrot of the badge has lured my into discovering some fabulous books (the true carrot!), with all of your help, of course, so thank you!

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments They say that carrots are good for you. :)
