Story starts with the funeral of heroine's dead husband(who is her father's age). Hero is a friend of her husband. The dead husband has 2 children who are heroine's age or elder. Everyone assumes that she is a gold digger for marrying someone so old. After the funeral the will is read and the husband has left all his fortune to the heroine And asked the hero to always protect the heroine. H and h have a marriage of convenience and h subsequently falls in love with H but then towards the end of the novel she is kidnapped by her late husband's children for the money and H arrives there acting as if he is involved in the plan too which leaves h distraught and she reveals that she is not a gold digger but her late husband's daughter and then I guess the police comes and captures her half siblings
