Listening to the trailer for a new BF Ninth Doctor box set?season?Whatever they are.
Where do these stories fit?
I know the first box set was pre-Rose but by series 4 you can't still be doing that.
The trailers sound great, and it's great to have Eccelston back, but my greek brain can't let go of trying to figure out where these fit!
But he has a moment where he passes a mirror and checks out his new face in’Rose’So, for 3 box sets he never saw a mirror or wondered what he looked like?
Tali wrote: "Still pre-Rose. From the show he was all over history before he met Rose, so it still works."Apparently River Song is involved as well, to go from the excited chatter in the Whovian FB groups I'm in.
Yep, River Song is all over the place at Big Finish. She’s even got a new series starting up
The Death and Life of River Song: Last Words
The Death and Life of River Song Series 02
The Death and Life of River Song Series 03

That would be quite the clash of personalities.

Donna seems tough, but that's only because she's only been paired with the soft, cuddly Doctor.
They can trade and Peri can go hang out with any of the Tennant Doctors out there.

I love switching Doctor's and companions.
Tubi finally got 'Land of the Lost'.What an insane and entertaining show.
Still convinced Sleezaks are an off shoot of the Silurians.
Listening to BF trailers it amazes me that you can hear that actors have gotten older, except Tom.I know he's pushing 90.
How does he still sound 40?
Tales of the Tardis is very sweet.Bit sad to be reminded of who we've lost and that everyone is getting older, but so nice to see them all again and get little hints of what happened to companions after they left the Tardis.

But most of them, yes, it’s amazing how his voice has hardly changed at all.

If I ever win, I will have to send you a free copy, as I forget all about the competition and you've reminded me for at least three years running.

well, I'll autograph one for you.
FCBD Doctor Who: decent story and intro to this new Tardis crew.Touches on a couple bits of Who history and sets up what is to come in the new comic series.
Fun read.
Can we stop referring to current Doctor Who as a new era, when it's being made by 90% people from the previous era...?Everyone talks about it like it's Abrams Star Trek.

Yes, let's not call it a new era.

I’m totally calling it Series Three. And to be honest, it feels organically and completely different than what has come before. The first two series, as different as they were, both felt solidly like sci-fi that bordered on fantasy quite often. This new series three feels like flat out fantasy, they’re not even trying to maintain anything resembling sci-fi. I’m fully expecting a plethora of magical and mythological beasties and baddies. The Maestro is clearly a magical being, and I’m expecting more of the same as more of the Legion appears, and “He Who waits.” This started with 14 and the salt stunt at the edge of the universe and it brought magic into the Doctor’s reality. So all bets are off. Anything goes!

I'll take your word for it.
It feels like RTD Who to me.
I like the Maestro and the Toymaker, but they are as magical as Q from Star Trek.
I hate the salt thing.
Breaking reality (on three separate occasions) didn't let them in, no, it was David Tennant and some seasoning...is the food really bland beyond the universe?
And, at least for me, Q was one of the worst things in Star Trek. Not to say I didn’t like John Delancie, he was brilliant, I just not fond of omniscient, omnipresent, all-powerful beings. Didn’t like The Beyonder from Secret Wars for the same reasons. But they can be useful narrative tools, but that’s all they are … tools (double meaning intended). But I’m always a mass of contradictions. It’s how I see the universe. Yin/Yang. Positive/Negative. You can’t have one without the other. One literally creates the other. And it wasn’t the salt exactly that caused the problem, it was the Doctor playing the game, the trick, the lie of superstition that caused the imbalance. Faith is a double edged sword with no hilt. Magic causes the very problems it is used to ameliorate.
While we wait for the next episode, my wife and I are watching Bridgerton.Bit of actor overlap between the two shows, and like Doctor Who, there are some great coats.
Just saw Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes this afternoon. Loved it. But I’m a big fan of the PotA films. Except that atrocity by Tim Burton.

Haven't seen the new ones, but Kingdom looks good, so I may need to catch up and watch the others.
Kingdom might become my new favorite. I really like both Rise and Dawn, War is solidly entertaining, but it didn’t grab me the same as the other two. And, as I said, the one by Tim Burton with Mark Wahlberg was atrocious.
The Tim Burton film is by far the worst thing in the PotA franchise. Even the live-action TV series and the cartoon series are both far more entertaining and far less cringe-worthy. Even the make-up awful and the music was one of the worst things from Danny Elfman. The newer stuff (Rise, Dawn, War and Kingdom) are all quite good. In almost all ways better than the original films. Better performances, better special effects, better production values. There’s some lovely musical nods to the original Jerry Goldsmith score in Kingdom as well.
Reading the Target novelization of 'The crimson horror', I'm reminded how annoying it is that Madam Vastra and company have not gotten books or their own or a comic.I know about their BF stuff, but I want books.
