Did we ever find out which Doctor turned out to be Merlin?

Is that from something official or just your best guess?

Nothing official in any way shape or form.

Wow!
I was sure there had to be a novel or a Big Finish.

There could be. I’m no expect.

you had me fooled

No, we're still waiting. Thus all the jokes about the "ginger" hair. There is an EDA in which the Doctor visits another alternative Avalon by Paul Cornell - I found it very confusing at the time. Doctor Who: The Shadows of Avalon

To judge by the way Ancelin(sp?) responds to the Doctor, I seriously doubt it was either of them. The Master is too selfish to be remembered with such joy and hope, and the Meddling Monk is too callous, even in the short amount of time we see him on screen.

Looks like they focus on reviews and essays.
Appreciate the heads up, but I'll probably pass.
If they were looking for stories, they'd have my attention.

Also get little sad when there's a story of a Doctor meeting a classic monster and I want to see the TV episode.
The 4th Doctor encountering Ice Warriors!
Why, in 7 years of TV did that never happen?

Haven’t gotten around to this one yet. Good to know it’s worth it.

It is astonishing how his voice has changed so little. In some of the newest release, you can only just begin hear a bit of a tremble, but he’s remarkably consistent with his earlier TV performances.

Lot of fun.
Some real effort went into the writing.

Let us know if you decide to take the plunge.

Well, surprisingly, I’m listening to an audiobook which features The Master as Merlin. It’s a short story included in Doctor Who: The Planet of Dust Other Stories: Doctor Who Audio Annual and the story, read by Geoffrey Beevers, was originally presented in text in Doctor Who Annual 1983.

Or am I stuck with the stillsnap one with audio?

According to the Radio Times, via The Mirror, there will be an animation of The Underwater Menace for the 60th Anniversary. However, the article dates from January 3, 2023 with no update.

Who knows what animations lurk in the hearts of the BBC?

Doctor Who: The Underwater Menace AND Doctor Who: The Smugglers!
Nice!"
Yay on Smugglers.
Ben, Polly and pirates!

😭

Lots of good pieces that come together to maker an okay whole.
Solid cast, and everything looks good, but the writing is uneven.
Very much feels like a 4 partner that got hacked down to 2.
I like Kameleon.
Shame he got such a raw deal and that nobody ever just went 'Duh! he's a shapeshifter! Hire an actor for when the robot doesn't work!" is crazy frustrating!
Gerald Flood, the actor who plays King John would have been great as a regular.

Especially if he's wandering around the Tardis in full King john attire.

Love it! 😹😹😹

Wildly uneven.
It's trying really hard, but can't quite get it.
The cast is trying and is decent enough that you feel bad when they get killed.
Except for Ingrid Pitt.
Lord, that was stupid!
Nice to see old monsters return, but the Sea Devil heads are too small, so those helmets look ridiculous.
Also, noticing this was written by Johnny Byrne, you can see where this may have started life as a 'Space:1999' script.

That’s rather my take as well.
I also find it hilarious how both Johnny Byrne and John Byrne worked on different aspects of Space: 1999. The former with the original TV series production and the latter with the comic book series from Charlton Comics.

That’s rather my take as well.

That's true!
I'd forgotten about that.
I have an issue of the comic in one of my longboxes, I think...

As always, very tempting.

Shame it wasn't a 4 parter, as I think the breathing room would have helped.
Tries to give everyone in the Tardis crew (besides Kameleon) something to do.
Find it hard to believe Big Finish hasn't gotten around to doing a story that follows up on it or done a "Doctor leaves Tegan and Turlough in the village, while he takes Will home" box set.

Great ideas, solid cast, monster with potential, the Tardis crew all gets to do something and hints at little bits of who-history.
But, at the same time, the colony is obviously 12 guys and 2 women and the show never pulls off making it feel bigger.
The Tractators as monsters are interesting, as villains with a plan they fall apart.
So much of the plot is built on nobody in the cast talking to each other or listening to anybody until episode 4.
It's trying so hard, but never gets better than 'okay'.
Would like to see the Tractators come back.
Maybe have them team up with the Wyrnn.

I spotted at least three good ones.

Silhouette is a fun one. Madam Vastra and Co. show up.
I can also recommend any of the comic collections are worth reading.

Gotta say, I liked it better this time around.
The story is still pretty weak, but it is a fun little world.
