Terrahawks was not a series I watched. I tried listening to some free downloads from Big Finish, the quality was typical for the company but the stories were awful.

It's got some good bits, but it was a clunky start.
I just did a double feature of The Suicide Squad & Free Guy. Nothing but, basically, a night of one big video game explosion.
Rick wrote: "Keep me posted."Well, I tried, but I'm done with this one.
The villains feel like leftovers from Power Rangers, the cast is kind of boring and borderline unlikable, and while the model work is good, all the ships are kind of boring looking.
Like the robots, but that's about it.
Rick wrote: "I just did a double feature of The Suicide Squad & Free Guy. Nothing but, basically, a night of one big video game explosion."Hoping to see Eternals this weekend and I'm finally feeling brave enough to check out the new episode of Doctor Who.
Big hopes. We'll see if the world lets me pull it off.
Eternals is a pretty solid movie.Yes, you have to set aside the source material, which was a struggle, but once you do that, it's an entertaining flick.
On it's own, it has some clunky bits, but that's post-spoiler stuff, for later.
Interesting watching them build the post-endgame MCU.
Feeling more positive.
I may be brave enough to watch Doctor Who tomorrow.
Travis wrote: "… Feeling more positive. I may be brave enough to watch Doctor Who tomorrow."Go for it.
Saw Eternals last night. I was completely enthralled with it. Probably the most non-traditional Marvel film made. Does away with most of the conventions and formula of the MCU. Beautiful. Amazing. Brilliant. Visionary. The diversity of the cast is a welcome change, and makes so much more sense than a bunch of white men trampling all over human history for 7000 years. And it beautifully crushes the whole egomaniacal cliche of the white-male-savior hero. I was literally crying at several moments throughout the film. This could be a tipping point, like first Superman movie, the first Tim Burton Batman film and then the confluence of the first two X-Men and the first 2 Spider-Man films and finally The Dark Knight & Iron Man combo that heralded a fundamental change in how audiences perceive the genre. This could very well become my favorite Marvel film of them all. They updated it perfectly into the 21st century and the changes, some were very unexpected, all work well and were necessary within this period of history. I think Jack Kirby would have been pleased.

That sounds wonderful, Rick.

Give it a couple days and we can chat.
Liked it much more than I thought I would, but I have some thoughts/questions.
And a couple "Holy $%^& did you see that...!" moments.
Well, Eternals was good, Doctor Who was good and I got a really nice review of a fanfic story I wrote.Feeling much better about this week.
Love Sontarions, but it seems like they won their war with the Rutans. They never get mentioned, let alone actually ever show up.
Be nice if someone in the Who-niverse dealt with/explained that.

Wait … did I miss a joke or something?

No.
It's just we haven't seen a rutan since Fang Rock and I can't even remember the last time one was mentioned.
All the stories are just Sontarions at war with the rest of the universe.
Just rewatched the 'asignment:Earth' episode of TOS Star TrekShame this stealth pilot never got made into a series.
Has a fun Doctor Who vibe with a little bit of spy stuff tossed in.
Plus, young Teri Garr was a cutie.
Supposedly Teri Garr was deeply offended by the length of her short skirts and had some nasty exchanges with the wardrobe department. Nonetheless, it is a shame it didn’t get picked up. Might have made an interesting series.

Sorry.
I was doubtful mine would show, as it was postponed three times on me.
I'll try not to brag and gush too much.
😉
Travis wrote: "Sorry. I was doubtful mine would show, as it was postponed three times on me...."No need to be. Amazon shipping is awful, they are the WORST.
I’m always the last to get stuff.

I’ve heard mixed reviews."
Yeah, I've pretty much stopped listening to reviews.
Too many sites getting review bombed and too many people just hating everything on reflex.
Plus, my tastes have only occasionally sync'd up with the general public.
Despite how refined and correct they usually are.
Been watching all the news coming out of Disney about their immersive Star Wars land and hotel, and while I'd love something similar for Doctor Who, I'd settle for a book/comic series.Something set at a space station, colony world or on a cruise ship would be a fun shared setting.
I’d love to have a Police Call Box secreted in spots all over the place in public parks and theme parks and tourist sites. So people could take pictures with it and act like the Doctor has been traveling all over.
Rick wrote: "I’d love to have a Police Call Box secreted in spots all over the place in public parks and theme parks and tourist sites. So people could take pictures with it and act like the Doctor has been tra..."Oh definitely.
Plus, if it's a spaceport you could have appearances of space companions, like Turlough or Zoe, as well as familiar alien races or robots.
There would obviously be photo ops with the Doctor, but there should be hints he stops by: the Tardis would be movable, so it would be in a different spot everyday.
The gift shop would sell jelly babies or in the space bar you could get a cup of tea, along with exotic, alien drinks.
Just imagine though, that you’re visiting the Grand Canyon National Park, and just outside the gift shop is … a Police Call Box. Or you’re visiting the St. Louis Arch, and just to the side of the parking lot is … a Police Call Box. Or you’re at Disneyland in sunny California and tucked away, nearly out of sight, next to The Madhatter’s Tea Party ride is … a Police Call Box. You’re in the Louvre and there, just to the left of the room with the Van Gogh paintings is … a Police Call Box. I could go on. But the thought of wonderful this would be is making me feel like a giddy aunt.

Oh, you are putting the Tardis in Disney.
I was creating a whole Who theme park.
Love the idea of the Tardis bopping around Disney, in both subtle places and in odd, jarring ones.
You could get a picture of yourself, the Tardis and that other Captain Jack.
I now what a picture of Mary Poppins stepping out of the Tardis!
Travis wrote: "My copy of the new Buckaroo Banzai novel arrived, finally!!!"Mine is now in Gove City Ohio. Still waiting. 😿
Travis wrote: "My copy of the new Buckaroo Banzai novel arrived, finally!!!"Mine arrived today!
(Now, I’ve to figure out when to watch the movie again)
Nightmare of Eden: really solid story.Like the banter, that it's not fate of the universe, the funky monsters, lots of K-9 and a decent supporting cast.
Not one of the better known or big stories, but I always enjoyed it.
My wife's review of Nightmare of Eden: it's okay, but a little goofy.I don't have the heart to tell her that Horns of the Nimon is next.

😹😹😹😹😹
Last night a friend took me to see an annual sort-of-local production of the Nutcracker Ballet, she’s been going to this for years and the friend she usually goes with just had a death in the family so I was elected as the designated alternate. Now, I’m not a practitioner of Christmas traditions, and I don’t celebrate the holiday, so I really only went so my friend wouldn’t have to drive the 90 minutes into Michigan alone and back and sit by herself. She’s a teacher and some of her former students are usually in this production and they were this year as well. All of this is immaterial to what I’m eventually going to get at, I’m just trying to set the stage. See, she’s been to this little theater in downtown Monroe Michigan before, at least probably 5 or 6 times in the last 10 years. We take the interstate most of the way north through Toledo and into Michigan then get off to head toward Monroe (and have to deal with several newb drivers who don’t understand the concept of roundabouts (people, if you’re in the roundabout you have right of way, not the drivers getting ready to enter the roundabout)). Now things start getting interesting as the phone app is politely telling us what direction to go. And we find ourselves on increasingly darker and darker, as well as rougher and rougher streets. Eventually we’re on a city street with dark house after dark house, very few street lights and the phone app says in that delightfully polite way to turn left. My friend obediently does so. And we’re now on a clearly narrow residential street. I’m like, this doesn’t look right. My friend says, no it’s just the back way. This will open up into a parking lot for a school any second. Then the phone app says to turn right at the next corner. We do so and … there’s a cul-de-sac with a bunch of (at least in the dark) rundown looking homes and a sign that reads: Dead End. And the phone app says: “you have reached your destination.” I look at my friend, who is looking at me with a surprised look on her face. And beyond her, out her side of the car - I’m swear I’m NOT making this up - is a graveyard. (Pause for effect)
I say: “Oh great! You’re trying to get me murdered, here in murdertown.”
So for the next 15-20 minutes while she’s desperately trying to find how to get to the theater, I’m making an endlessly stream of comments and jokes about the worst things people do in horror movies. All while we’re driving around in this neighborhood of (I’m sure they look completely normal in the daylight) somewhat rundown houses that sprawls out from around this graveyard. We did eventually make it to the theater where the cast performed a very sweet local production of the Nutcracker Ballet (even with lots of sound and technical problems) to the delight of the family and friends. And then we stopped at a Denny’s on the way back home, which was at best 60 degrees inside where we had to wait over an hour to get a burger and a salmon dinner. My friend’s burger was good apparently, but my salmon dinner was … embarrassingly small, undercooked and extremely late to arrive. The waitress felt so bad she knocked off half the price, but it was still absurdly overpriced for the amount of meat that was delivered.
I don’t think my friend is going to invite me to “Murdertown’s” annual Nutcracker Ballet again next year. Which I can totally live with.
Rick wrote: "Last night a friend took me to see an annual sort-of-local production of the Nutcracker Ballet, she’s been going to this for years and the friend she usually goes with just had a death in the famil..."Personally, I'd be more scared that she took you to a Denny's than she took you to murdertown.
Travis wrote: "Personally, I'd be more scared that she took you to a Denny's than she took you to murdertown."There is that.
Horns of the Nimon: yes, it's incredibly goofy and the sets are cheap as can be, but man, was it fun.Romana and K-9 got plenty to do, the supporting cast ism decent, the dialogue is fun, despite the clunky costumes the Nimon are a cool monster and should come back and the couple scenes of Tom and Graham Crowden trying to out-over act each are worth the price of admission.
This season tends to be considered the "lesser" stories, but they've all been entertaining.
Travis wrote: "… This season tends to be considered the "lesser" stories, but they've all been entertaining."Guess I tend to agree with those who consider this season as “lesser stories,” these aren’t among my favorites. But in all fairness, I don’t have the nostalgia aspect in play here. I didn’t grow up with Tom Baker as the Doctor and I’ve only seen this season once or twice.
I did grow up with Tom, and this was never considered his golden era. After City of Death, it's a lot of "Oh, that one." stories.
And while none of these are going to make the classics lists, I've got to say it's been a lot of fun rewatching them.
Course, being studio bound, they were able to use K-9 more, which makes any story better.
