Dahlia | 5 comments I can't remember anything specific about this book, such as any of the characters names. However, I believe the main character's name began with "T". I think this was a book series that I read in 2011/12. I vaguely remember mountains being on one of the covers.

-SPOILERS-

I remember the plot of this series in great detail.

The main character is a prince who was rejected by his family at birth due to having been born with deformed limbs. I think one arm was like a claw. He has a twin brother who was born able bodied. Family kept the able bodied child because they believed the disabled main character was evil. After he was born his mother instructed her midwifery team to get rid of him, but they secretly smuggled him out of the palace and took him somewhere where he could grow up safely.

There may have been a prophecy involved stating that one of the princes was going to bring ruin to the land.
I remember there being a plot twist where it turns out that the main character's family got it wrong, because their evil child was the able bodied one that they kept.

I apologise if any of the terms I have used in the post are seen as offensive. I didn't know how else to describe the plot/characters.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Bridget (oobridgetoo) | 171 comments Was it published in the U.S. or elsewhere? Was the author American? (I noticed the way you spelled apologize differently, so I was wondering) It may be beneficial information. ;)

Dahlia | 5 comments Sorry I can't remember where the author was from. I do know that the English used was very old and formal. The story was set in a medieval world.

Dahlia | 5 comments Sorry, no it wasn't Jepp, Who Defied the Stars. I will add that to my reading list though. It looks good. Thank you for your help.

Ellie (baticeer) | 52 comments Did some searching, I think this is it: The Dark Moon: The Guardian Cycle by Julia Gray ?

The birth of the Emperor's son had been prophesied many years before. The child would be the Guardian, savour of his people. What had not been foreseen was the fact that there would be two imperial children born that night. Jax, the firstborn, is raised in the Imperial Palace and groomed for his role as the future leader of The Floating Islands. Terrell, second born and hideously disfigured, is banished to Havenmoon, where he will spend his life unaware of his birthright.
