This is a fabulous idea to have this section to get a sense of what you might have already read by the author, and also to discuss some things in general related to the book before the discussion opens. I know I was going to ask some questions like this pertaining to Wilde.Terrific planning- Love it!
And for the June books, the mods will open up threads on each book on June 1st? I mean the No Spoilers thread, where we can have general pre-discussion?
Spoiler threads open on 1st June and non spoiler threads will be moved to the currently reading folder, so people can continue to comment. We don’t have separate spoiler and non spoiler threads for the short story category.

Today is the 1st of the month so all of June’s discussion threads will be open (spoiler and non spoiler) and found under the currently reading folder. July’s non spoiler threads will also open under this upcoming books folder :)

We’ve only ever had one spoiler thread for our short story group reads and haven’t implemented non-spoiler threads for these shorter works.

Great! I'm having trouble finding the current Long Reads folder....is there still such a thread/group?
All of our current old school, new school, revisit the shelf, short story and quarterly long reads will be found under the Current group reads folder. We swapped from folders for each category, to one for current reads and one for upcoming books. Hope that helps :)

I couldn't find the folder for the long quarterly read, but, since some might already want to find a copy of The Portrait of a Lady, I hope it's fine I mention it here that there are two different edition, 1881 and 1908. The 1908 edition is revised in the style of his late period writing while the original 1881 edition is considered more accessible. Many publishers reprint his later revised version though, Both are in public domain and can be found online for free. However, if you'd prefer a physical copy, it might be good to first check "Note on the text" to decide if that's the version you'd like to read. I've decided to read the original version as this will be my first novel by James

For first time Henry Jamesers, like Vesna, I would suggest the 1881 version. But it is the later period style' s complexity and psychological interiority that makes James shine.

I'm not sure where I should ask this question. I'd like to read The Angel at the Grave in January, but I can't find any collections of her works that have it. If I wait till January to ask I might not be able to get it in time. Where is a good place for me to ask for help locating this story ahead of time?

This folder contains next month’s book selections No Spoiler threads. No plot discussion beyond the books synopsis as listed on the books jacket cover or the book's Goodreads page will be allowed. This early posting of the No Spoiler thread is to discuss any non-plot issues pertaining to the book.
Appropriate Posts could contain:
1. Information about the author.
2. Compare editions/translations.
3. Any historical or background information
4. Are you familiar with this author’s work? Do you have any expectations going into the book?
5. What made you decide to read this book?
6. Any fan fiction that you have read or would like to read? Just link the books.
7. If you loved the book and want others to share in that experience, use this thread to motivate others, again save plot specifics for the Spoiler thread
8. If you hated the book, it would be best to keep that for the spoiler page
The most important thing to remember is no plot discussion. Any post that contains plot information or spoilers will be deleted. We realize that sounds harsh, but it is all the moderators can do. We don’t have the ability to move it to another thread or save it until the Spoiler thread is created.
