Review: I really like this book. I was hooked into the story after the first 1o minutes(Audio Book) .This is a fast pace story with all the things I love, romance , suspense and challenges....
Beautiful social worker Riley Dawson comes closer to understanding her intense connection to the ocean when she meets a handsome stranger on the shores of Virginia Beach. He's arrived, reborn from the fathoms below, to fulfill an ancient mission for the God Poseidon and--with Riley--experience the pleasures of human desire.

A BOOK SET IN ITALY

The Second Duchess by Elizabeth Loupas The Second Duchess by Elizabeth Loupas

Date Read: 09/08/14
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis:

In a city-state known for magnificence, where love affairs and conspiracies play out amidst brilliant painters, poets and musicians, the powerful and ambitious Alfonso d'Este, duke of Ferrara, takes a new bride. Half of Europe is certain he murdered his first wife, Lucrezia, the luminous child of the Medici. But no one dares accuse him, and no one has proof-least of all his second duchess, the far less beautiful but delightfully clever Barbara of Austria.
At first determined to ignore the rumors about her new husband, Barbara embraces the pleasures of the Ferrarese court. Yet wherever she turns she hears whispers of the first duchess's wayward life and mysterious death. Barbara asks questions-a dangerous mistake for a duchess of Ferrara. Suddenly, to save her own life, Barbara has no choice but to risk the duke's terrifying displeasure and discover the truth of Lucrezia's death-or she will share her fate.

I found the plot engaging, I liked how Barbara went about finding the truth. What I liked most about this book was the detail to clothes, food and the 16th century customs. I have not read much on 16th Century Renaissance Italy, but this one did peak my interest, I will have to start researching more books like this one.

btwthesepages | 176 comments Hi Sue. I'd like to change my book from The Shadow of the Wind (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, #1) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón to The Distance Between Us by Kasie West .
The Shadow of the Wind (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, #1) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón is a little long and I might not finish it by next roll.
But The Distance Between Us by Kasie West is a stand alone and comparatively a short read. I've already started it (Last night so I think it qualifies). I'll post my review tonight or early tomorrow morning before Danielle comes online to roll for us :)

Review:
Caymen Meyers lives in an apartment above the porcelain doll store with her mother. Owning "Dolls and more" is what kept them afloat all these years. Caymen's rich father ran off before her mom could finish saying I'm pregnant and his parents paid her off to keep the whole thing a secret. They were teenagers then and Caymen's mom is dead set on that not happening to Caymen too. She hates the rich and sometimes Caymen agrees. Until she meets Xander- the cute and handsome grandson of a loyal customer. There's just one problem- he's over the top rich. Caymen doesn't want to repeat the mistakes her mom made and have her heart broken too. But Xander's rare smile is something she can't resist. What follows is a sweet and cute love story accompanied by Caymen's hilarious dry humor. Secrets are kept. Lies are told. Misunderstandings arise. Long buried secrets are found. And totally unexpected twists at the end leave you shocked.

Absolutely loved Caymen and her dry humor. More than that absolutely loved Sean, even though he only appears for the last two or so chapters :)

Review: This is not a genre I normally read, but I did like this story...I have read this author in other genres(Jayne Ann Krentz,Jayne Castle )and I really like her fast pace style of writing.

From the moment the stranger burst into her antiquities shop in Rome, Lavinia Lake knew he was nothing but trouble. He said he was in pursuit of a killer. He swore he was only trying to save her. Yet Lavinia was convinced that Mr. Tobias March was bent instead on destroying her. When the self-described spy hustled her all the way back to England, Lavinia vowed she would find a way to repay him in full. She never dreamed that Mr. March had in fact been telling the truth, that he had been hired to track down a powerful villain. And just as his investigation was heating up, he found it complicated by the most ungovernable, exasperatingand slightly shadywoman he had ever met. Lavinia most certainly never dreamed they would meet again, forced into partnership under shocking circumstancesor that their fiery disputes would spark a sizzling desire as overwhelming as the danger they faced....(

NayNay The Fatal Fashione (Elizabeth I, #8) by Karen Harper by Karen Harper

Roll: 3
Space: 18
Series: 8
Date Read: 09/12/14
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis:

In 1566, Elizabeth Tudor faces tremendous opposition from Parliament for ruling England without the help of a husband. Instead, she turns to her Privy Plot Council for help, only to discover from her royal herbalist that a woman has drowned in a tub of starch. Soon another garment worker meets the same rigid fate. Elizabeth becomes unbending in her attempts to solve the murders, as well as iron out the problems of her kingdom. But with her list of suspects growing--and firm evidence pointing to those she trusts the most--Elizabeth must hang the murderer out to dry or risk losing her reign… or her life.

Being a great Tudor fan, I like just about anything written about the Tudor's. Karen Harper gave us a good mystery, her character's well developed. The only problem I had while reading this "whodunit" (making it a three star instead of four) is that...Does a Queen of time to play amateur sleuth?

Review:
In the previous books Jimmy has not been seen in the best light. In this book we really got to know him. I was so rooting for his HEA with Lena. Lena was a terrific heroine. I love reading her. I loved how the relationship between them progressed slowly. They had friendship and banter, but moving into a couple was done well. So much chemistry. I adore this series so much, love the band members. Can't wait now for Ben's book.
