Ch 12

Kalinda is a total badass without mercy, but is no match for the sanisi.

So it seems Lilia and Kalinda are from another/parallel world. I guess that's why the sky color is different?

I wasn't sure if the portal opened by Lilia's mother just took her to another part of the world where something in the atmosphere was responsible for the difference.

Yes, it was unclear in the prologue where Lilia was transported to but I think its clear that she was transported from the amber-sky world to the blue-sky world.

Dara (cmdrdara) I might be in the minority here but I'm having a hard time getting into this book. Things move at such a fast pace that I feel no connection or investment in the story or the characters. Hurley created a fascinating world but I wish she spent more time getting me to care.

Dara (cmdrdara) Thanks, Alex. I don't look forward to picking this book up each day because of that.

Bas (basdr) Well, after reading chapter 17 I understand where the title comes from!

The story is moving at an incredible pace. The journey that Lilia took with Gian to the peninsula could be a book on its own if written by writers like Robert Jordan or Tolkien.

Despite that I'm invested and I want to keep reading and learning more about this crazy world(s). I do have a hard time knowing who to root or care for. I find myself liking Roh a lot, although we see him not that often.

So much to say and I haven't even finished part 2 yet.

Geoff (geoffgreer) The pace of the novel is great. I'm along for the ride, and I'm loving it.

Am I the only one that's looking forward to how the Multiplicity affects the series? I'm looking forward to what happens if more than two dimensions come into play. It'll get necessarily complex, but I think she can handle it.

Bas (basdr) I had a realisation. When Ahkio asked his sister who killed her she said that she killed herself. Could she have meant that somehow her mirror counterpart killed her?

Close :)

No, hints. I'm having to much fun reading to even have a hint at what happens.

Anyways, so far, the rules would say that she couldn't kill herself that way because you can't travel to the other world if your 'double' lives there.

Bas (basdr) I had thought of that as well but maybe the rules are not as clear as presented so far.

That was my thought as well, or one of her soldiers at least.

I'm fine with the pace so far. I'm not attached to any of the characters, but I'm still interested in the story. It's been hyped a lot by early readers, but it's hovering around 3.5 stars for me right now.

Bill | 1596 comments I agree with everything said so far. I think for me what is holding me back from investing in the pov characters is that they all seem so ignorant of why they are doing what they are doing. Some of their decisions seem kind of random. I didn't really understand why Lilia decided to run from Kalinda after trying to escape to her.

I like how she has put her own spin on gender but want to more on the different variations and what their purpose is.

message 15: by Dara (new) - rated it 2 stars

Dara (cmdrdara) Yes! That's what I was trying to figure out. Characters seemed to do things because the plot demanded it rather than having their own reason/motivation for doing it.

message 16: by Bas (new) - rated it 4 stars

Bas (basdr) Exactly! Lilia running away tells me she doesn't trust Kalinda but earlier it said that she wrote to her like six times a month or something like that.
I find her childish, she was pissed about the village and her mom and so she basically let Gian die, no scratch that: she killed Gian.

So Gian was a plotdevice so Lilia could go to the peninsula, because Taigan probably wouldn't have taken her.

Dara (cmdrdara) I think I have to add that to my review...
