I think we should read the first five chapters. There are 23 chapters and the epilogue technically makes 24. Since the second books is scheduled to be started on the 6th, we can read five chapters everyday, except for the 5th (the last day?) on which we would read 4. Just a suggestion.

I just finished the fifth chapter. So far, I'm really enjoying the book. There were parts that annoyed me, but it could easily be overlooked.

Chapters 1-5 (in no particular order- mostly as I remembered the scenes) spoiler: (view spoiler)[Clary's determination to believe that her mother is/was 'innocent' annoyed me a bit because she said herself that she barely knew anything about her mother. I was wondering why she wasn't saying anything about what she heard the ravener hissing, but Hodge sorted that out for me. Clary had the thought that Alec acted like he didn't want to be noticed but I got the feeling that he wanted to be noticed yet at the same time left to his own devices. More like a fly on the wall; out of the corner of your eye. Jace: my friend spoke about him for a year and compared every guy to him. I laughed when I came across the line where Clary thought he looked like a lion with his golden mane. Isabelle confuses me. Is she nice or mean? Could she be a misunderstood character? I don't have a favourite yet. I hope I will continue to feel this way about the rest of the book. I'm really loving it. I want to know more about this Valentine character. Is it really the shadowhunter or someone else? And what of Clary's dad? Luke was a bit hostile towards the end there though. I can't wait to find out all these things. (hide spoiler)]

Finished up till chapter 9 (I honestly didn't know the book was divided into three parts so I stopped at chapter nine a.k.a end of part one)

You know that feeling you get when you're reading a book and you're smiling and you know something awesome's gonna happen even if it's at the end, so you're just overcome with this excitement and continue to read as though your life depended on it? Yea, that how I felt reading this. I would read more, but I don't like reading before a flight, I get migraines.

Chapters 6-9 in order (view spoiler)[This book is getting ever better, I swear! So Clary and Jace so back to her house and they find a Forsaken. The way it's described made me scrunch up my face. It was gross. I guess it was lucky that Clary didn't turn into one of those. Madame Dorothea seems like that weird old lady that everyone has in their building. (Or weird old man) They tell you things, and instead of walking by, you stop to hear what they have to say even though it's pointless. That was my opinion of her in the beginning. Even though she left out the fact that Luke had been in the house, she still helped them. Kudos to her? I found the idea of a five-dimensional door awesome. Too bad they didn't delve into that for very long. To go anywhere you want? Yes please! LUKE WAS A SHADOWHUNTER! Yes, and his real name is Lucian? Cool! His lack of caring seemed like a front to me. For all we know, he could have sensed that Clary and co. was in his house and said those things to get them off his trail. So this Valentine character has Jocelyn! I think I should have seen that coming. The circle is rising, Hodge was a member! HOLY MAC 'N CHEESE, JOCELYN IS VALENTINE'S WIFE???? As I said, this book is awesome! (hide spoiler)]
