Just made it to Chapter 5.


So this is not a book I typically read. I usually steer away from vampires, etc. But I have to say I kind of like it so far. Things happened early enough to keep my attention.

Clary: (view spoiler)[OK WHY can she see Jace and the others? Clearly she's visible to other people..or rather mundanes, but how can she see demons and shadow hunters!? And WHAT happened to her mother!! Who found her? And I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but her father may be a shadow hunter or something of the like?? Because clearly the mother and her brother, Luke, know something that Clary doesn't know. (hide spoiler)]

So many questions I still have!! :)

I'm going to start it right now. Yes the chapters are pretty long, I've read 8 chapters before but put it down so I'm going to re-read the first chapters.

Up to Chapter 20 (End of Part 2)

Chapters 10-20 (view spoiler)[ The Silent City was freaky. Brother Jeremiah was also freaky. Imagining him with eyeless eye sockets and a sown mouth...not to mention the rest of the Silent Brothers...I was glad the image didn't stay in my head too long. Magnus Bane, I can't help but love him. Did anyone else feel that way? He's so sassy and nonchalant about things. (I want to pick up The Bane Chronicles immediately after I've finished this series and The Infernal Devices). The book with the runes in it seemed awesome. I think it did help Clary in a way. She was sort of recognizing them. The fact that Clary's mom had been taking her to Magnus since she was two obviously allows us to see that she was really desperate. The vampire's lair wasn't all the interesting to me. No stairs, complete darkness...it was to be expected. The part where the wolves came in, now that made it all awesome. Alec and Clary's argument...I couldn't help but wish Clary feels the utmost guilt over what she said. She used his vulnerability of the whole Jace thing against him. That was low. You don't kick a man when he's down. The midnight flower was rather cool. Does anyone else NOT ship Jace and Clary? Like, I don't want them to be together. More fighting, yes, that I like. The Mortal Cup in the tarrot card deck...Jocelyn you brilliant woman! Who would have thought, right? Abaddon was creepy and ugly. Too bad she's not dead. HODGE! HOW COULD HE? OF ALL PEOPLE! I understand why he did it though. For fifteen years he was cursed...he wanted his freedom. I'm a bit scared to find out what happens to him. When that wolf came into the alleyway, immediately I said aloud, 'Luke!' turns out I was right. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 21-Epilogue (view spoiler)[ HOLY CHEESE ON A CRACKER! I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO EXPLAIN MY EMOTIONS! Valentine is 'Michael Wayland' as in HE IS JACE'S FATHER AND JACE IS ACTUALLY JONATHAN CHRISTOPHER! VALENTINE IS CLARY'S FATHER TOO! Heeeeey, at least that ship sunk itself. Yay! Valentine seems insane, really insane. I'm glad that the thing between Alec and Clary was resolved. At least we know that she did feel guilty. I like how the book ended, sometimes I feel like the book ended at the perfect spot with no questions left unanswered and sometimes I get annoyed with an ending, but this book wasn't like that. It was like a scene fading to black and the next book will be the start of a new scene. Overall 5/5 (I would've said 4 because of Clary's annoyingness in the beginning but it can be overlooked.)
