Hoping for a good roll!

The Selection by Kiera Cass
Completed on 11th Sep 2014
Rating: 5 stars
Review:
In the country of Illéa the way to find a wife for the Prince is to ask all willing girls of certain age to sign up and then 35 names are picked in a lottery. America Singer does not want to sign up. She is in love with a boy already and she thinks she is meant to do different things in life than just be pretty and stand beside her man. She does sign up for The Selection reluctantly to please her loved ones. Winning The Selection could mean that her family's life would change forever. She doesn't think much of it, because the odds are slim. But then her name is drawn.
She has to leave behind her family, her secret love Aspen and her home and travel to the palace to join 34 other girls from all over the nation. 34 other girls who actually want to be in the palace and to meet Prince Maxon himself.
I really enjoyed this book. Unlike many young adult books I've read, this one didn't annoy me at all by being "so young adult". I loved the way America had enough self respect and confidence to be herself and not let the society define who she is and what she should like and do in life. She was really relatable and all in all the entire story just swept you along. I was positively surprised. I was afraid everything would be too princess fairytale, but it wasn't.
I'm actually kind of hoping we get to 20s soon with our rolls so I can pick up the second book of the series :)

we can read the following:
16 in a series, 1/stand alone in a series, 6 in a series
or a book that has at least 50% grey or sliver on the cover

Happy choosing and reading everyone!

My options are:

I'm leaning towards Things I Want My Daughters To Know by Elizabeth Noble, but I'm afraid this will turn into a proper cry fest, because it's that time of the month and I cry over everything even without a tearjerker of a book :)

(1st, 6th, 16th, standalone, Grey/Silver cover)
I'm going with alternate, Grey/Silver cover

Happy reading to all. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

So, so true especially with a never ending pile plus other books I want to read on my own.

I found this book to be quite enjoyable. I like the main couple and liked their romance. Some interesting secondary characters, that I look forward to reading in the other books of this series.

I can't wait to read more of this series about the Parkers and the Judds and the Circle P ranch. Lots of family members so lots more stories to tell. Colt and Emma had chemistry from the moment they met and there were always sparks flying. Bree, her four year old daughter was a bundle of energy and full of joy. Seeing the ranch and the animals through her eyes was heartwarming.

I won't plan on rolling any Friday am's unless you tell me specifically Amy. We do need a high roll one of these weeks to stay in the game!

Last time this was played I was pretty lucky with my rolls. The first time I rolled here I got a 7 which wasn't great but not too bad. I'll blow on them before I roll to see if that helps! LOL

Week 3 - Roll 4; Spot #16 Read Book 6 in a series.

Wild Wolf
This is #6 in the Shifters Unbound series. I have been waiting for Graham’s story, and it’s finally here. Graham is a passionate big bad wolf who must save his clan as well as his human girlfriend Misty. With so much at stake, Graham also has to contend with his unsecure nephew and twin male cubs, who can get into a lot of trouble. Add a little magic fae into the mix and you have a wonderful story line.
I am really enjoying this series and put it off, because I thought that the concept of shape shifters into animals and living in Nevada in Shifter Town was a little far-fetched, and it is. However, all of the books in this series have been fun and enjoyable reads! I will definitely get to the next book sooner rather than later. Jennifer Ashley has become one of my favorite authors. I am now in the middle of several of her series reads.

It's so nice that a book fits more than one challenge at times and if I need to review it anyway it's a bigger bonus!

Totally agree!

I didn't feel comfortable using the free pass so Amy can roll sometime tomorrow if Minttu posts otherwise we may have to decide to use the free pass. Haven't heard from Minttu since the 12th - last Friday.
Good night all - get a good roll tomorrow Amy!

Feel better - hope you were able to read this week. I'm off to bed! Once again only 5 hours sleep before starting my day once again.

Thank you JoAnne :) I'm feeling better today and my son is feeling really good, back to normal if I can judge by the noise level. It's my daughter's turn now. Here's hoping next week will be flu-free.
Have a good night! I'm sorry if waiting for my post kept you awake past your bedtime!

Week 3 - Stand-alone

Highland Fling by Katie Fforde
Finished: 18th Sept 2014

Review:
I've had this book on my to-read list for a while. I love stories set in Scotland and Katie Fforde has never disappointed me yet, so I knew I would enjoy this one.
This is a story or Jenny Porter who works as a virtual assistant normally from her own home without ever meeting her clients face to face. One client however wants to send her to Scotland to check out a textile mill in trouble. She is to review the books and see if anything can be done to save the place.
During her stay Jenny ends up living with the eccentric Dolmain family who owns the mill and soon realizes that she doesn't want all the workers of the mill to lose their jobs eventhough the situation is very grim. So she decides to go out on a limb and try to come up with a plan to keep the place from closing down.
She develops friendships with the family, drinks a lot of whisky all the time and meets a tall and dark stranger who brings out her argumentative side and makes her behave quite badly.
I liked this book very much. It was light and funny and full of interesting characters. Another feel good book I can add to my list of rainy day re-reads :)

sounds like a good book - will be added to my TBR pile!
going to roll now - cat work me up 1/2 hour before the alarm went off -grrr!

Good luck all - happy reading
Going to look for my book now

Ah good, I've been wanting to know our roll to find book. I've finished my last one.

Great series - I'm farther along on it but haven't read at least the last 3 books or more.
May go back and reread a favorite from a series.
Looking through my books to review now since one has to be a book 2 in a series.

I read book one of the series the second week of the challenge!

(2nd, 5th, 25th or reviewed shelf)
I'm going with 5th book in a series

Another hoarder like me - LOL. I have books on a Nook, a kindle, the computer, library books and books I own.

I didn't love this one as much as the previous books, but it was still enjoyable. It was less intense with the suspense. I did like Rio and Grace, but thought the love declaration was a bit soon. Loved Rio's team. Looking forward to the next book.

Great historical story set in the late 1700's that took us from New Hampshire to Kentucky by wagon and on horseback. Lots of emotion and lots of twists and turns to the story. Great closure and can't wait for the next two books in the series.
