Searching for a book I read 15 years ago.

Hello all, I am looking for a book that I want to give to my friend who is going to Japan this summer. I read this book in University for a Japanese culture class. The book is a true story about a man from the United States who goes to Japan as a teacher of English. In the book he tells many anecdotes about his adventures during his time in Japan, most of which are culturally awkward and funny. For example, one story is about his experience in a hot springs with other naked Japanese coworkers that he barely knows. Another example is a night out singing karaoke and getting drunk. Has anyone else read this book? Does anyone else know the title or the author? I can’t remember anything!
