Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2166 comments What book about the Tudors or Tudor England would you like to have as our Group Read in April 2019?

If it's in a series, can it be easily read as a stand-alone? If not, you might want to nominate the first book in the series, or the most recent book in it the group has not read together.

Can't remember what we've already read as a group? (Sometimes I can't, either.) There's a "group-reads" shelf on the group's Bookshelf.

Two nominations to a person, please.

Michelle (michellesreads) | 1 comments The Kings Curse by Phillippa Gregory
It’s the sequel to the Constant Princess.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2166 comments We read The King's Curse in November 2014, Michelle, so you still have two nominations.

(That thread is still open: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... .)

Yes.
The Tudors: The Complete Story of England's Most Notorious Dynasty
by G.J. Meyer

Sorry, I don’t know how to paste the Bookcover/link as others do, so I just pasted the link. Seems I saw a thread somewhere on how to do it, but can’t find it. Was using the mobile app on an iPad. Had to sign in to the website tonight just to reply. The mobile app won’t let me do a “reply”.

Georgia (crankeeyankee) | 18 comments Where do I find the thread/list of the books that have already been read in the group read? I would like to nominate another book but don’t want to put a repeat book in.
My first nomination (The Tudors - Meyer) was in last or the previous months poll so I figured I was safe to add that one :)

Thanks

Ok, found it. I see it was in the initial post!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2166 comments To add the cover link rather than the text link: click 'add book/author,' look up your book, and there's an option for 'cover' at the bottom of that form. (I'm not sure how possible that is with the mobile app, which I have never used but hear nothing good about.)

Got it! Thanks for the help.
Yes, the mobile app seems to work well for quickly looking up books, reviews etc., adding books to your shelves and such but as I am finding out, not so good for groups.

message 20: by Christine (new)

Christine Hartweg | 48 comments I'm nominating Wolsey The Life of King Henry VIII's Cardinal by John Matusiak and Graven With Diamonds The Many Lives of Thomas Wyatt. Courtier, Poet, Assassin, Spy by Nicola Shulman

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2166 comments If anyone has a last-minute nomination to make, now is a good time, as I'll probably be starting the poll later today.

message 22: by Arwen (new)

Arwen | 54 comments If I may, I'd like to renew my proposition of Prince Arthur The Tudor King Who Never Was by Sean Cunningham .

message 23: by Georgia (new)

Georgia (crankeeyankee) | 18 comments I would like to nominate The Life of Thomas More by Peter Ackroyd

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2166 comments Alright, I will nominate C.J. Sansom's Sovereign, and The White Rose Murders by Paul Doherty.

And with that I close nominations.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2166 comments The poll is now open. You'll find it at the bottom of the group's Home page, at the top of its Polls page, or here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1... .

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2166 comments If the poll closed now (which it does not), the winner, by one vote, would be C.J. Sansom's Sovereign.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2166 comments The winner, by one vote: Sovereign, by C.J. Sansom.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2166 comments And we will be discussing it here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... .
