Hey Renee, there's definitely an audio of Children! I got the CDs from my library. If you've got the Kindle version, you can get the audio for $13.

It's the same narrators/production crew as the first books, I'm pretty sure they did all 6.

Children of Dune was a little inconsistent but had some definite highlights. The ending was fantastic.

Hi Everyman, I love Bill Bryson. I read the book you're talking about some years back. I loved it, but for some inexplicable reason I didn't quite finish it. I blame the universe!

It is :-). And because it's a series you have to read the lot. It's not bad though and many of my friends really really liked it when we all read it oh so many years ago so it will probably be worth the effort.

The Cause IS fantastic, and William's Dragonbone Chair is great so far, IMO.

I know that once I'm done, I'll need to read the others in the series, as well. BTW, yesterday I looking into the last book (because in my copy of #1, it's listed twice in a row, naturally I was curious,) and found out that the finale's soo huge that it had to be split into 2 parts! The 1st part is 1000+ pages, and the 2nd over 800. Aye aye aye, what have I gotten myself into?:)

My husband and I are also listening to Killing Floor on audio for long drives. It's my first Jack Reacher novel.

Ooh this is fun. I admit I don't regularly read chunksters, but this group encourages me to try them every now and again, especially if there are ebook versions that are convenient for bringing to and fro.

I'm currently reading three books:
-Anne Lamott's Imperfect Birds, which I'll finish tonight.
-Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl, which I'll probably start tomorrow.
-Terry Golway's Machine Made: Tammany Hall and the Creation of Modern American Politics, of which I've read about three chapters.

Haven't read that, but speaking of dragons, have you read the delightful (and definitely non-chunkster) Dealing with Dragons? Can be read in an evening, and is just pure pleasure.

Right now, in addition to The Luminaries, I'm reading The Woman in White. Both mysteries set in 1800's but one written in 1850's and one written a few years ago.

That does look like an enjoyable read. Seems rather similar in concept to The Ordinary Princess which was one of the best books I read when I was a youngster and I'm sure I'd still love it now.
