DianeMP | 534 comments I have noticed some very strange topics listed under the headings of various discussion groups. I am not seeing any on the PBT menu, but there are some bizarre topics under other groups on the page. I do not belong to any of these other groups, they just appear on my discussion menu page. Here are a couple of examples: On a posting about the group The Alienist there is a posting about a Netflix Device Activation Code, a phone number to call, and Netflix customer service. Another, the Mockingjay has a contact for an escort service and someone looking for discount cosplay wigs online store. Under the group Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a product review posting for Viril pump Male Enhancement.
What the heck? Does anyone else see these odd postings or has my computer been hacked???????? Anyone know what this is about? Help-

Charlotte | 1701 comments I've never seen it before but I was curious if it was because of how I navigate through the website. I did see what you see when I click Community > Discussions ... I'm actually surprised that Goodreads hasn't taken care of that but I have noticed that Goodreads isn't as mature as other social sites in terms of their management/maintenance.

My normal navigation path is Community > Groups and then I select the group I want to join a particular discussion. I never go to discussions and therefore have never seen this until today.

I'm going to look into how to get in touch with their developers to that they can maybe add this to their product backlog.

DianeMP | 534 comments Thank you Charlotte! That is a huge relief. I tried the path you follow and I like it much better than Community>Discussions.

Charlotte | 1701 comments Yay!!

I’ve also gotten an email back from their development team and they are looking into it.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8442 comments I don't use that path, but the Goodreads Feedback group frequently has posts about these spam accounts that leave such messages here there and everywhere.

You can flag a comment as spam to report it to the GR management. They'll handle it from there. But they simply don't have the resources to look at the millions of posts they have every week to ferret out all the spam, so have to rely on members reporting.

The spammers, by the way, are pretty quick to create new accounts and post again.
