Shelby (stang_lee) | 1970 comments Week 11
Echoes at Dawn by Maya Banks
Echoes at Dawn (KGI, #5) by Maya Banks

Read: (5/17)

Rating: ★★★★½

Another typically action packed installment in the world of KGI. Of course we knew we'd be getting Grace and Rio's story after the last book and where things left off there. And as much as this is the typical insta-love that seems to be entirely the case with this series, I always like the characters more than enough to make up for it.

I have a few issues with Grace's ability (view spoiler) But of course that doesn't make for as intense of a story in the climactic moments.

Still I like Grace and Rio as a couple. She has a ton of backbone and I loved her kickass ability even when beatdown and exhausted to be smart and not take crap from anyone. All in all this was a fun story and read super quickly.

Review:
Really loved this one. New to me author and I really enjoyed her characters. Madeline had so much going against her but she never let it totally defeat her. She'd get discouraged but always picked herself up and moved forward. I like how she stood up for herself in the beginning with Adam. She should have stood her ground near the end but it all ended well anyway. Glad to add this author to my list.

Damn, these two are even hotter in this episode than they were in the last. *Drool* their dirty talk is spectacular!

Isobel Starling throws a few interesting hooks into this one and I'm anxious to see where she goes from here.

No worries Amanda! To me that's a very valid reason, did you have fun?

P.S. I haven't even started my book yet, so it's not all on you.

Calila | 2746 comments I've checked all the posts to here and we're all good.

But watch, Jane will notice something I missed because for all the rounds I've played I still don't have it down.

Calila | 2746 comments And there's a winner! Congrats to Team 3!

message 264: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments I feel so used! ;-) I think 3 of the 5 team 3 members used shorter novellas off my read shelf :-o

That's a good strategy, though. I tried that but the team we had, their books just didn't match up for me. Not to mention 1 of them was marked private and one didn't have very many of her read books marked with a read date. That was a little frustrating.

Calila | 2746 comments Now that it's over I just want to say, you guys were awesome. Sorry I was kind of a crappy captain this round. Don't forget that be Bachelor challenge is up next (I think, correct me if I'm wrong Jane), if you haven't played it before, it's similar to PTP but with enough of a difference to be fun. I haven't decided if I'll play it yet, but I hope you guys think about it. It was fun last round. And I hope to see y'all in the next round of PTP! I promise I'll be better at being up to date then.

Bye guys!!

P.S. I'll probably end up posting my book still, but you don't have to if you don't want. I'm just a completist and unless it takes me a few months to read it, it'll bug me if I don't.

Amanda D. (tinyminx) | 634 comments You were a great captain, Calila! This was my first PTP challenge and I had an awesome time.

Also, Book Lovers Con is in Nashville next year. If you're a romance reader and can go, I definitely recommend it. Lots of authors and lots of free books!
