Book: King Hall
Rating: 5 stars
Date Read: 11th May
Review:
This is my all time favourite series and even now on reread 5+ it hooks me in and means I then spend the next 3 days rereading the rest of the series.

Seduction of a Highland Lass by Maya Banks
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This was a good read, but was a little too melancholy for me. To be honest I feel like that was a I skipped this book and went to the third book. It was well written and I knew it would end with them together, but there was a grey cloud that hung over the whole book.

Three Times a Bride
Rating: 2.5 Stars
Review: I feel like a lot of these stories were very dated (they were originally written in the 90s) and they had some minor to major problems for me. I feel like if I had read them 10 years ago, I may have felt differently about them.
Fancy Free (2 Stars):
This would have been a decent read but I really had a problem with the heroine drugging the hero in the beginning. And she was very immature.
The Mad Earl's Bride (2.5)
The characters were better, but that prologue was insane. It was a WTF moment (view spoiler) Honestly, with out the prologue drama this would have been a good story.
Scandal's Bride ( 3.5 stars)
This was the best story out of all of them, with relatively low drama.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Sweep in Peace Ilona Andrews
Rating *****
Read 5/15/19
Review: The second book in the series was a bit darker than the first, but on the plus side, it was great to see George, Jack, Gaston and Sophie make an appearance. I loved the Edge series so it was nice to see the characters grown up. It was sad to see how George had hardened as an adult, but it was written in a way that completely made sense. I loved the new chef.

Option 1

Finished: 5/11/19 - 4 Stars
Review: This was pretty typical Eloisa James for me (which is a good thing). Likeable characters, humor, and some very sweet moments. I'm loving the Wildes, and looking forward to the next book, which is coming out soon. As always, Susan Duerden did a great job with the narration.

Week # 9
Bookcover/link: A Fine Romance by Christi Barth

Rating (1-5): 3
Completion Date: 5/17
Review: This was a nice read about two people learning to believe in their dreams and accomplishing what they want to. They might have started off on the wrong foot, but their chemistry was undeniable. He needed to be smacked upside the head a few times when it came to his mother, but that was his defining character fault so it worked. Plus there were lots of baked goods in the book which is always nice.

Review: It's been quite a while since I've listened to any of the Elder Races books, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoy the combination of Thea Harrison's writing and Sophie Eastlake's narration. This one was a little different from the main series, didn't include any familiar characters and was set entirely in the Other Lands, but still had much the same feel to it. I know there's at least one more novella out there that I haven't read, and I think it's time to take a look at the spin-off series that came after the Elder Races!

Book: When We Touch
Rating: 4 stars
Date Read: 18th May
Review:
I enjoyed this one a lot more than I expected to. The writing made it a smooth quick read and both POVs were enjoyable. I hated her sister just like I was supposed and I even felt sorry for Kyle which surprised me. Looking forward to the next one now.

I really liked this one. It was short but I knew that going in. I was glad to get the backstory for Carl and Marianne because they were so cute in Sweet Tea and Sympathy. I look forward to continuing this series. This family and town are so quirky, I love it.

It was fun playing I look forward to playing with you all again. Thanks, Karen for conducting this train ride for us. :)

Don't give up yet...unless it's happened in just the last few minutes there's not another team that has even posted all of their selections! If you have time to read tomorrow, check back here once the library opens - we might still have a chance. And if not, oh well, maybe next time!

Option 1
Finders, Keepers
Rating: ****
Read 5/17
Review: Jeff is an undercover operative, just back from a long assignment when he was assigned to seduce a man who may be involved with an art theft that involved murder. Overall, I really liked the book - it was on the short side, but Jeff and Alan's feelings had the chance to grow and I thought the result of Jeff's deception was handled well.

Did you go back to the library. What book is it? I could gift it to you through kindle possibly? Or what about free kindle books? Or the library's online selection?
I'm going to be out all day so I won't be able to check in.

Beyond Temptation
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: This was a short novella that was heavy on sex and light on actual plot. It was well written, but I feel like it was one sex scene too many (I did roll my eyes that the main characters happened to find time to jump in bed as they are working on completing a dangerous mission to get information), but overall good.

I sorta figured that by the time I woke up another team would have already won, making it all irrelevant, but of course that hasn't happened...if by the time I finish my errands no one has won, I'll swing by the library to get it. But of course the library closer to me doesn't have it...ack...I'll try to get it and give us a fighting chance. Sorry though for letting you down. I didn't even think about using the series option until 10pm even though I'd been thinking about that particular book when I saw someone had read another book in the series...I'll do my best...

I'm going to be gone this afternoon (family wedding), so if you do manage to get your book and finish it before another team has won, be sure to post that we're finished in the Q&A thread as soon as you've done your completion post. That can be done by any team member...doesn't have to be the captain, fortunately. Good luck finding your book!

Review: I’m not a big fan of novellas since I don’t think there’s enough character or story development, but this was a quick and sweet second chance romance. He only left her in the first place because he thought he was holding her back, so you can’t help but love him. I don’t think the story really needed much more, especially since all of the characters were from the previous novel. It is a nice follow up to Lost and Found Sisters.
