I didn't expect a book about a father's death to be so funny, but I'm definitely loving the humor

Judd(view spoiler)[ the poor guy. His wife was pretty awful - cheating for over a year. awful. I like how he rolls with things though. he was great with the toddler and the potty training (hide spoiler)]

Alice(view spoiler)[hmmmm....she seems hostile too. I know they are struggling and she's on hormones but there seems to be something more here too.. Is she mad for Paul for something? Or mad at Judd that she got Paul?? (hide spoiler)]

there are a lot of family dynamics and problems here. I can't wait to read all 7 days!!

I agree with Judd that it was Paul's choice to go to the house
but Judd could have been a better brother - however, if paul was always treating him crappy, it would be hard to go to his house all the time after surgeries. Plus, clearly, Judd was going through stuff too

I'm with you loving the humor. I could try until I die and not come up with some of the scenarios and phrases the author did. Oh my gosh! keep busting up aloud.

This family is definitely (view spoiler)[dysfunctional. (hide spoiler)]

Judd (view spoiler)[ I feel so bad for him. I can't imagine not only walking in on your spouse having sex in your bed with someone else, but for it to be you boss too...Poor Judd! (hide spoiler)]

Paul (view spoiler)[I agree with you that he is the oldest by 16 months and with that usually comes more responsibility and perhaps he either felt that and made the choice to stay and help or he felt made to do so. (hide spoiler)]

Phillip (view spoiler)[is useless, and I hate to use that word. He's been (or is still) into drugs. He's still very young compared to the others, so he's 9 years younger than Judd so 10 1/2 or so younger than Paul. They probably really spoiled him. And you're right, being with his therapist is SO wrong ethically even though she supposedly found him another. (hide spoiler)]

Oh. My. God. Judd's (view spoiler)[dream about all the sex acts he was going through was cracking me up! (hide spoiler)]

Jen (view spoiler)[showing up to tell Judd she's pregnant at that point in time is definitely selfish! It's ironic that Wade is sterile, if he really is. (hide spoiler)]

When Judd was (view spoiler)[considering what it would've been like to be a father to their baby they lost, it made me sad. You know how you love your baby from the get-go, and I'm sure he was sad to lose their little boy. Of course, no baby can save a marriage. (hide spoiler)]

Judd's mother (view spoiler)[upset me how she seemed to take sides with Jen. His mother didn't even seem to truly empathize with him regarding the cheating. (hide spoiler)]

Judd cracked me up when he (view spoiler)[kept calling Jen and when Wade answered he'd hang up. But when he called Wade's phone and hung up on him when he answered, I about died. A "small" way of getting him but Judd loved it. (hide spoiler)]

Jen (view spoiler)[I definitely don't want them to get back together! She is a user, has no compassion, and she is self-centered. Her reasons for sleeping with Wade are absurd! (hide spoiler)]

Paul (view spoiler)[is making Judd the scapegoat. I agree that Judd could've been a better brother, but so could have Paul. The blame lies among the family members. (hide spoiler)]

I really liked this one. I like that family dynamics are realistic and the issues between siblings are nearly always there!

Judd (view spoiler)[most definitely should be single and IF he tries to get back with Jen that he would do it after she's proven herself to him. Forgiveness is one thing, but going in blind would be a mistake and doom them for sure. I just don't like Jen and think he's better off without her. (hide spoiler)]
