The Keye Street series by Amanda Kyle Williams turned up while searching, but the first book was published in 2011. (One Goodreads review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...)
Dorris, what's her official job and who does she work for?
What's the U.S. location - region, well-known city?

My memory was faulty as to the years I had read the books (at 69 I find that time just seems to run differently).
So sorry to see the author is deceased. I guess we will never learn how Keye Street's story ends, but I intend to re-read the books that were published.
Ms. Williams was a brilliant author.
THANK YOU!

Kris - that's it!!!! Fantastic.

Great. Glad you found your book series, Dorris. I often assume people might be a bit off when recalling years read or published, so I cast a wide net when searching.

Written by Amanda Kyle Williams
I believe I read these books around 1995 - 2010.
(I was wrong about the years.)
The protagonist is a female in her mid twenties to thirties who is struggling to overcome alcoholism. She has lost her position as profiler for FBI (I think). Mistakes made due to her addiction caused the lost of her position despite her brilliance in the field.
I seem to remember her fall from grace has also caused a rift from her family (which may have been Asian). Although at one point there may have been a reference to her sister.
Off the books she helps a police detective (who may have became a love interest) solve crimes.
I read two or three books about this character. Her detective friend received a serious head wound in the last book I read.
Time period - modern
Location - maybe on the East Coast
I would love to find the name of the author so I can finish this series and discover whatever became of this interesting character.
Thanks for any leads you can give me.
