Cathy | 9 comments I loved this book all the way through. I had to keep reading to see what was going to happen. But, I didn't like the ending. So, do I give it a 5 star because I loved it, or do I give it a 3 star because of the ending? I have this question a lot when the ending kind of ruins a book for me. How do y'all handle it? (I compromised and gave it a 4)

KnitCinn | 5 comments Yep - this is a dilemma I run into often. Usually I refuse to give it a 5 if the ending was less than it could/should have been. If I’m REALLY let down by the ending, it gets no more than a 3. If the middle of the book drags along, it goes down a notch from whatever the last inclination. Really wish there was a 1/2 rating so I could go up or down with my opinion. Thanks for starting a stream of conversation on this point of ratings.

Cathy | 9 comments Thanks for answering! We should use this forum more often to discuss reading topics.

Holly | 4 comments I have had this same issue with ratings! I really wish that Goodreads would add half stars to their rating system. I may have two books that I’ve rated 3 stars but in reality they would have received a 2 1/2 or a 3 1/2. So they could be worlds apart in how much I enjoyed them. Sometimes I round up and other times I round down. If I was really disappointed in an ending I will round down a star.
