Brisbane Aussie Readers Catch-Up - Sat, April 6th
It's a lot of fun Kylie :) I went once when I happened to be holidaying up there at the time! I'd love to go again some time.
Deborah wrote: "I am in! I will start looking around for a mystery book :)"I think I might have mine already - unless I see something else that calls out to me before April 6th!
Just under a month to go until we get together to talk about all things books!Does anyone have any ideas for what they'll choose for their mystery book swap? I think I've chosen mine - I was browsing books the other day and nothing else cried out to me.
Also if anyone wants any of the books listed in message 16, I'm happy to bring them along:
Kate wrote: "Kathryn, Resurrection Bay is on my TBR list."Excellent, Kate! Would you like me to bring Resurrection Bay for you or do you already have a copy?
Great to see a couple of new names on the list for our get together. I have a couple of books I will put up as the date gets closer if I finish them in time. Most of mine are ARC's though so everyone else probably already has them.

Kerri wrote: "I'll take Touch and Go off your hands if no-one else wants it."It's yours, Kerri!
And I'll have The Lost Girls, unless someone else is desperate for it - because I don't need it!
Oh - and The Brethren - I just realised it's actually on my TBR list!
And the three ARC books I have to pass on are
Also - Lynne; would you like that lovely book
back? When I got it you said you might like to read it when I was done.
Kerri wrote: "No problem Deborah, I'll take Helga the Pig off your hands too please."Done! I really loved that book, hope you do too!
Kylie wrote: "I'm looking forward to meeting you all :)"Looking forward to meeting you too, Kylie! And Heritage is yours!

I'd be interested to read Mary Rose MacColl's book, Deborah, if no one else is wanting it.

I would love you to bring a copy.

Kathryn that would be great. Thanks
Kylie wrote: "I have a new case for a Kindle Paperwhite 4 Generation with a magnetic cover if anyone wants it."Not for me, thanks, Kylie - I'd need to buy a Kindle to go in it ;-)
But someone else might already have a 4th generation Paperwhite.
That's the end of my working week wrapped up, as is my book for tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing everyone at 11am!
Kerri wrote: "I had a lovely time catching up with everybody today, thanks for organising it Kathryn :)"It was a lovely time! I think I came home with more books than I went with...!
I'd love to see what books you each received with your swap and mystery :)
Glad you had a good time! And I think that's fairly normal Kathryn ;)

In the swap I received a copy of The Lace Weaver by Lauren Chater
,plus from Kathryn Heritage by Judy Nunn
I got The Shepherd's Hut by Tim Winton in my mystery swap from Kerri (I've shied away from any Tim Wintons since being unable to finish Cloudstreet several years ago, so this is a bit challenging!).And I also walked away with The True Story of Maddie Bright by Mary-Rose MacColl, The Brethren by John Grisham and The Lost Girls by Jennifer Spence.
Kylie wrote: "Yes, it was so lovely to meet everyone. Thanks Kathryn :)"Oh - and I'm glad you enjoyed your first AR catch-up, Kylie!! It was lovely to meet you too, and to talk about bookish things! Thanks for coming!
Oh well done both of you!!! Loved The Lace Weaver, The True Story of Maddie Bright and The Lost Girls. I'm with you Kathryn on Tim Winton - love some, and not others :) I'll be interested in your thoughts of The Shepherd's Hut when you get to it :)

I got Diamond Sky by Annie Seaton in the mystery swap and also took the opportunity to pop into the State Library bookshop and pick up The Secret Runners of New York by Matthew Reilly.

If you are interested, please put your names down in this thread, and I will advise you by private message with details of the venue once the numbers are confirmed.
Date - Saturday, 6th April 2019
Time - 11.00am for coffee followed by lunch
Location - CBD/South Brisbane/South Bank
RSVP - Friday 30th March 2019
The Mystery Book Swap is always fun, so we'll do it again.
Mystery Book Swap
1. Bring along one book to the venue to give away – any genre, preferably a new book or a book in excellent condition.
2. Wrap the book in whatever paper you have at home.
3. Place a tag on the wrapping with the description of the genre.
4. Each participant's name will be placed in a hat, and when your name is drawn, you can select a mystery book from the pile.
And feel free to bring along any books that you no longer want to keep to "swap". You are very welcome to take books even if you don't have any to actually swap - most of us just want to clear our shelves so there's room to buy more books! If you want to list books here to see if anyone's interested so you don't have to lug them all in, you're very welcome to do that as well!
