10.2 - Vito & Michael Corleone
Vito Corleone is the head of a fictional Mafia family based in New York City in Mario Puzo's novel The Godfather. Upon his death, Michael, his youngest son, succeeds him as the don of the Corleone crime family. Read a book in which an organized crime family, criminal organization, or crime syndicate plays a major role. Required: If the role of organized crime within the story is not obvious in the book's description, provide a link that explains how the book fits the task when you post.

Sure, that works.

Brooke | 1419 comments Would Red Glove work? In addition to the GR description, there's this from the Publishers Weekly review: "17-year-old Cassel Sharpe is still getting used to the idea that he's a transformation worker... Growing up in a crime family, he's always been on the wrong side of the law, but now everyone wants a piece of Cassel, including a mob boss, who sees him as an untraceable hit man, and U.S. agents, who want him to replace his recently murdered brother as an informant. Also, Cassel's mother has put a love curse on Lila, the mob boss's daughter..."

Yes, that works.

Bea Hi, Kristina. I see you approved Red Glove. I am wondering if book #1 White Cat would also be approvable. I really like the MPGs for this series but would like to read book #1 first.

Thank you. This task has been challenging for me regarding finding a book that I would want to read. However, this is one I am looking forward to, and it is available through one of my libraries. So glad.

Yes, that works. The book's description doesn’t make it entirely clear that it’s about a Mexican crime family, though, so make sure you include an explanation when you post your completed task.

Reading the reviews, it’s hard to tell if the book centers only around intense completion for resources or if there is a criminal element to that competition. Reviewers seem to be comparing it to The Godfather in terms of generational epics, rather than a crime syndicate. If you read it, and organized crime is central to the plot, you’ll need to explain how it fits the task when you post.

Maybe. It's hard to tell from the book's description/reviews how organized crime plays a major role in the book. If the illegal activity is central to the book and not just mentioned in passing, was carried out by a network of criminals that is structured around a centralized command, then it will work. If you end up reading it, you'll need to explain how the book fits the requirements of the task.

Thanks. I'll just fit it somewhere else to make it easy.

Yes, either of those would work. Their reviews indicate that gangsters/the Mafia are involved. To prevent any problems, just link to one of the reviews that shows how the book fits the task.

I just finished A Shifter's Curse where the MC infiltrates a wolf shifter pack that requires businesses in its area to pay for "protection" and regularly beats or injures its enemies and own members if they are seen to be "disloyal". Figured I'd give it a shot. :)

That does sound like organized crime but since the role is not obvious in the book's description you'll need to provide a link (to a review or book description) that explains how the book fits the task when you post.
