I don't mean readingfrom your own years or even the field you studied. I am thinking about what current college level students are reading for classes - could be any discipline.

Amy | 12953 comments I think I have an outrageous amount of points! I haven’t looked in over a year. I’m pretty sure it’s quite the summit. Too bad I can’t spend it on anything.

Oh dear! I just PM'd you. One thing to be aware of is that we accrue Trim separately and all the points for the year long challenges are given at year end.

But, let me go double check to see if you overspent lol. You still get 1 point for voting no matter what!

I don't think that you did. I will provide the details via PM so as not to bore everyone.

Oh! I did not know this! No wonder I could not figure out where I went wrong for January! (I was still hammering over it, being the trained accountant that I am, not wanting to bother you if I was the one who made the mistake🙄)-I never kept track last year....

Interesting choices. I went with the one I have the most TBR books to choose from.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11107 comments Joi, The Secret History is also a debut novel! There are many other surprises on this list. There are many books that are on all three lists.

I love that book too but I only re-read it last year so will have to think of something else if college wins. Maybe we also can try to persuade people to read it if debut wins - I'd love to hear what everyone thinks of it!

I don't want to jinx things, but I expect that debut is a strong contender, so I don't think you should worry too much.

People were just trying to nail down what college meant because the first page of college was a bit confusing.

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments I have not looked at the voting for this month (I am often surprised right along with you guys when it is announced!) but I will say that this group has an uncanny knack for talking the most about the tags that DO NOT get the most votes 😂

message 65: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12953 comments I have noticed that too, Nicole! Seems a part of the fun of it all.

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Talking about books is always fun, even if the talk is about a tag we won’t be reading for 😉

LOL, turns out it was all just a misunderstanding and corrected.

But, all 3 choices are OK with me, so I will skip the vote. I think English Lit would be my preference or debut. I was confused by the college category...

I'm in the camp of a little break to mourn what has ended seems reasonable. You sound like you are living up to your responsibilities. Some reality tv, extra sleep, and trashy romances sounds like a little bit of treating yourself to some distraction from the situation. It's hard for parents to watch their child feel pain . . .I am sure they are not disgusted, but they are probably worried about you. Maybe you can pick a date (March 1?) and just decide that you will do two fun things outside the house per week starting then . . .and see how that feels? Then, you can tell your parents that's what you are going to do so they can accept that you won't be forever holed up in your bedroom ;). In the meantime, the biggest of hugs to you.

Oh, that's wonderful that you have some good friends that you see regularly and that you've decided to get your own place! My newly adult son lives in the same city as we do, and it has been a wonderful transition for all of us. I wish you the exact same. It is often hard for parents to relate to their children that aren't similar to them . . .we have one of each. One just like us. One completely different. But I love them both very deeply. However, I definitely have a harder time relating to the decisions and actions of the one that's different. You seem like a very insightful, loving, and understanding daughter I must say. Sounds like you are on a very good path to me. We are all cheering you on here!!

I'm sorry to hear about the breakup. Friends are the best thing following a break-up to avoid isolating yourself. Getting immersed in a new kind of book or tv series doesn't hurt either. (Sookie Stackhouse and TrueBlood helped me deal with my change of life slump because they were so totally unreal.)

Susie AJ, I’ve been thinking of you. I’m with Anita; trashy tv and romances and sleep sound like perfect therapy to me. Give yourself the time you need. I’m excited to hear about your move. New doors are opening for you. I wish you nothing but the best.

I am always into persuading people to read The Secret History. If college or debuts wins :)
