SOLVED historical fiction bk involving a raven/crow [s]

I once read this book that was historical fiction I believe and it was about a girl and her family which were homeless and living on the desert/plateau areas. I don't remember much but the main character, the girl, had to work in a shrimp factory and she would get bullied because she would smell like shrimp. they're is also a significant motif of a raven or crow

When did you read this? And I'm guessing it was YA, rather than adult fiction?

Well, it almost sort of sounds like "The Glass Castle". Except for the part that she works in a shrimp factory and smells like shrimp.
