ABANDONED. YA romance from the 80s? MC is girl named Laurie, a geek, lives with strict mother, gets boyfriend but he is just using her

The girl's name is Lauren, but everyone calls her Laurie. She's kind of homely and a geek, and lives with her mother. She is in high school and a popular boy named Clint (or something beginning with a C) begins to pay attention to her and they start dating, but it turns out he is just using her. The mother was really strict and uptight, no father in the picture that I can recall. I read it around 1988 so it would have been published then or before. I don't think it was a very long book. It wasn't even probably that good, but it bugs me that I can't remember it.
