Do You Like To Read In Silence or Do You Prefer To Have Some Music In The Background?

In the past, I used to listen to a lot of Jazz music while I'm reading but lately, I'm listening to Hot Tuna, Grateful Dead, Traffic, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, or Neil Young, just to name a few. The music isn't loud so it won't distract me from the book.
I might read while watching the Giants, 49ers, Sharks, or Warriors but I try to watch the game instead if my team is about to score.

I read while my husband is watching TV. It slows me down, though, as I'm listening somewhat passively.

Ditto here with my wife. The other night she was catching up on Big Ban Theory episodes. Needless to say - I didn't get much reading done that night.

I like rock,power ballads and 70s and 80s music,my faves are Nickleback,Bon Jovi,Iron Maiden,Darren Hayes,i also love Jeff Wayne's musical version of War of the Worlds but when i read a book,i prefer silence so i can concentrate and take in what i am reading.My old brain doesnt understand things as easily as it used to.

White noise drives me crazy so I always read with either music in the background or the tv on- usually during a sports broadcast.

I vary it - more often than not it's in silence - if music us on it's non-vocal - normally classical orchestral, chamber or solo instrument.
