SOLVED. Young adult fiction where main character is told to find a way help these troubled people by receiving a list/playing cards with victims names on it. [s]

COVER: I unfortunately am a bit foggy on some of the details. The copy I read was a red and yellow hard cover book with playing cards on it. I read it awhile ago so the book cover might be a bit wrong

DESCRIPTION: A young man receives either letters or cards telling him to help/watch the people on the letter/card. From what I can remember about the people he watched/helped is...

SPOILERS

1) At first it just looks like a woman grocery shopping with her daughter. It is later found out that the father is horribly abusive and frequently rapes(?) the mother, causing the young daughter to sit outside on the porch at night.
2) A punk kid who fights with his older brother. The night the main character goes to watch him he is sitting outside after losing a fist fight with his older brother over a game. To bring them closer to each other the main character beats up the younger brother. The older brother then jumps the main character with a bunch of his friends.
3) There was more but that's all I remember for now! If I think of anymore detail I will update this post.
