Sue | 2718 comments This book was recommended to me by my boss. I love my boss, but definitely a younger generation from me. I was happy to see a fit for this month's tag - it made the book a little easier to get through.

This book is about a shallow, entitled jerk who realized at age 30 that being a shallow, entitled jerk wasn't making him happy.

He discovered after some soul searching that honesty and integrity were more important to him. And he wrote a book.

I'm glad he found his way out of his belly button. I'm sorry I had to read about it.

I gave this book 2 Stars (instead of 1) because my boss loved the book, and I like my boss.....

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12569 comments well lucky for the author that you like your boss🤣-Personally, I love the title-but on your recommendation, will pass on reading it. May I ask what you are going to tell your boss?

Amy | 12914 comments This title and the contents within are just yet another example of how we have completely lost a sense of civility and social discourse in our society.

Sue | 2718 comments To my boss, no need to trash a book he recommended, but I might mention that I've made my own similar life discoveries - and without the crass language.

So validating what he appreciated about the book without telling the white lie that I liked it too.

And so ironically showing that you have learned the subtle art of giving a f***, aka tact!

KateNZ | 4100 comments This was such a one note book. I only skimmed it - there were a couple of decent examples but only really one argument (which I hazily remember was something about picking the things you genuinely need to care about), told a million different ways. The title was the best bit. A single blog post would have done it. Supposedly it was taking the mickey out of the self help industry but it seemed to have all the same faults that it was preaching against...

That's exactly what I thought Kate! The first chapter or two were fine, I got the point, but then a whole book's worth of his own life's examples over and over was just overkill! :)

This book got 2 stars from me too.

Totally agree Amy. I have not read the book but have read so many reviews.

Good review. This one has never hit my radar. I have read so many reviews and it is interesting how the reviews differ based on age.:) Sometimes I think I am getting to old for some nonsense.

Hebah (quietdissident) | 675 comments After listening to my husband ranting about You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life this weekend, I'm reaching the conclusion that self-help books seem to be a love or hate genre.

Teodora Paslaru (teodorapaslaru) | 245 comments At some point, I wanted to read it. Then I decided not to. It seems I was right. Too many great books out there to lose my time on this one.

Kim (karmstr112) | 8 comments I feel I read the female version of your read: "Calm the F*ck Down: How to Control What You Can and Accept What You Can't So You Can Stop Freaking Out and Get On With Your Life"
by Sarah Knight. I also rated it 2 stars, trying to be kind the young librarian who recommended it.
