Richard Archambault (richardmtl) | 26 comments So, I was granted Librarian status a couple months ago but so far I have tread lightly. Now, however, I have a couple of questions I'm not sure about.

1) Kindle editions: do we combine with the hard-copy editions? I've had this question for a long time, and I have not seen a definitive answer anywhere. For example:

Hard-copy: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Kindle: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

2) There are currently 3 books in this series (soon to be 3, for a total of 3):

https://www.bedetheque.com/serie-5773...

Each book has the same title, though. They only differentiate them by 1/3, 2/3, 3/3. How do you suggest I:

a) Title each book (I will add volume 2)
b) Name the series (i.e., what will I put in the parenthesis?)

Thanks kindly!

Emily | 17632 comments It's always fine to ask a question! :)

1.) Yes, these are different editions of the same work. The only reason you wouldn't combine them is if they were different books or 2-in-1 books, etc. Please read the examples: https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/2...

2.) Next to last paragraph (when the series name is the title):
https://www.goodreads.com/help/librar...

How to create a series (super important):
https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/3...

Hi Emily, is that the correct link?

@Richard
Also, Bedetheque does not look like an allowed source for book data. It seems a reader-driven site, not a publisher.

It's one of them. It was the first page I found with the series info on it so I just linked it. It's the next to last paragraph of the series section at the bottom of that page. I overlooked the Sacred Texts part at the very end, so that was confusing. Technically it is the 3rd paragraph from the end.

Here is a better link for titles with the series name only. The information is in the next to last paragraph of the series section, before Sacred Texts:
https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/2...

Richard Archambault (richardmtl) | 26 comments Thanks Emily for your help! I'll add volume 2 (and create the series, and combine editions for vol 1) later today.

@lethe thanks for your inout as well! As for BDtheque, I linked to it just to show the series and how the individual volumes don't have a name; I have the actual book in hand, and will enter the information from the book itself. :)

Great :)

Richard Archambault (richardmtl) | 26 comments So, try as I might, I can't get the Series to work properly for volume 2. Help please! :)

Vol 1: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Vol 2: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

Sandra | 31526 comments Richard, I've added it to the series.

The simplest way is to copy the isbn/asin of the book you want to add to the series & on another screen have the book page with the link to the series.

Click on the link & then open the edit page for the series (top right link), then at the bottom of the edit page it says +add books, click that and paste your isbn in the search box. The book comes up & you add it.

Hopefully you'll be able to do #3 :)

Richard Archambault (richardmtl) | 26 comments Thank you so much Sandra, you just taught me a new trick! When #3 comes out, I'll definitely add it that way! :)
