If I Stay
question
I can't decide whether I liked the movie adaptation or not

I loved this movie, if only because I can't wait for Where She Went to become a movie as well (I hope I haven't jinxed it). But, as I just read the book this week, it was very easy to see differences between the novel and the movie and I can't decide whether or not they took away or not. First of all, I was incredibly pissed about Adam's band not being called Shooting Star. That would have been such an easy thing to do, but hey. At least they made good music. Second, I think it really harmed the story that Adam and Kim were friends in the movie. It was much more heart warming/wrenching in the book when he falls into her arms when he can't get into to see Mia. And also, now if they do make Where She Went a movie, they won't be able to incorporate that. And also, as bad as this sounds, I wish her father hadn't lived through the accident and that the Other Guy had been left with barely a scratch as in the novel.
I loved the book and I loved the movie but I'm not sure if I'm happy with them together. Please tell me that I'm not the only one to feel like this?

I saw the movie on the night it opened and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I too have read the book and it seemed to have followed it pretty closely. I mean, compared to other book-to-movie adaptions that were horribly adapted (THE GIVER, don't get me started) it was a pretty decent adaption and sure some things were changed and it bothered me too that Kim and Adam's relationship was different in the movie! And Adam didn't say my favorite line which is 'Please Mia, don't make me write a song'.
That was the only thing (Kim and Adam's relationship) I was not okay with but aside from that it was so heartbreaking and the acting was fantastic. It is definitely worth seeing (I know you have but for others who may come across this) I have also yet to read Where She Went but I plan to soon.
