Ket | 163 comments Searching for a children's picture book read between 1990 and 2001, the cover and every other page had illustrated swarms of small colorful creatures resembling the candy Nerds, but all colors of the rainbow. The creatures may or may not have changed color.

There was a boat in the book... that's the only thing remembered about the plot. Thank you!

Ket | 163 comments The swarming was the most prominent element of this book - checked out the Barbapapa books, but the book I'm looking for has like a hundred swarming things on each page. The background was mostly white with these swarms piling down from one corner, or swooping across a page. Sorry I didn't make that very clear to start! Otherwise the Barbapapa books are a crazy good recommendation for what I described at first. Thank you, just not quite!

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Tana, can you remember if the creatures had faces? Big eyes, small eyes, big mouth, small mouth, etc?
Were the illustrations watercolor, cartoony, realistic, flat color, etc?

Any human/other characters in the story?

Ket | 163 comments The creatures might have had faces - at least eyes, maybe a small mouth. Cartoony illustrations more so.

No other characters or humans that I can remember. The swarm of creatures I don't remember being threatening in the story, just really cool to look at. At times the creatures made a rainbow effect in their swarming, but page to page this changed.
