Oh, that is neat! I loved those mysteries and still have some in paperback from the late 70s/early 80s. Am going to have think about getting as eBooks any I don't have in print.

I'm reading Dark Road to Darjeeling which I got from NetGalley in exchange for a review. I was hoping to be able to review it before its publication date (October 1) but just couldn't get to it in time. I just started it but already it has me chuckling ~ those wild and crazy Marches.

I love netgalley. I've read 6 or so books from them so far. Make sure you check out the offerings from "Poisoned Pen Press." They're great mysteries.

I hear that, stormhawk! I've gotten a few from Poisoned Pen Press ~ one I finished (Roman Games: A Plinius Secundus Mystery by Bruce Macbain), which I really enjoyed and reviewed on my blog and, I think, here too, one I wasn't so thrilled about, and one more waiting in the wings.

I've actually got too many waiting in the wings; when I first discovered NetGalley, I went a little overboard. It's going to take me quite awhile to read and review them all.

I just ordered a subscription for Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine and Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine.
I gave up on magazines in the 90's because they were being read and damaged during delivery. I never got a copy that wasn't damaged so I quit. I am pleased to say Kindle has changed that. I am not reading what I did then.....Ladies Home Journal and more just like it.....I was so happy to find these and even more pleased to say I really like them in this format delivered without damage.

I'm currently reading Darkly Dreaming Dexter (Dexter #1)
by Jeff Lindsay. I'm a huge fan of the ShoTime series and thought I'd give the books a go. I'm about 1/2 way through and, although it's a good read, I find the show more entertaining. Found that to be the same situation with the Sookie Stackhouse series and TruBlood. Perhaps, it's because I have preconceived notions and knowledge of the outcome that I'm not as into it as I typically find myself while reading.

I just finished "A Dog's Purpose"; Bruce Cameron, and prior to that flew through "The Hangman's Daughter" and the entire "Twilight" series for the first time...loved it. How are you guys finding "Midnight Sun" on kindle? Just DLed "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner".

Also, "Heaven Is For Real....", Todd Burpo..was incredible.

OH..and I have to say that everything Diana Gabaldon touches is GOLDEN..except maybe the "Lord John" books..they were so-so.

Read all three in the Hunger Games trilogy in 2 days. Highly un-put-downable. I also have everything Diana Gabaldon has written - anyone who knows a comparable author please speak up.

I just finished "Cutting for Stone" (Abraham Verghese) and found it remarkable, unusual and delightful.

Now I wont have books all over the place in boxes I love to read I love IAD Kresley Cole.
My other New favourite Author is JR Ward I am beginning to see what the big rave about Black Dagger Brothers is I had to read the first one twice wow.
Now I have an Kresley Cole last IAD and JR wards second BDB on my kindle. I am so Pleased any other book suggestions I am open to as I really do not want to YA Books. Oh I nearly forgot I like a good Horror and suspense book also Debs

Kathy...the series is sooooo good. And I hear from readers of the book that they are doing a pretty good job at it too. havent read the books yet, but loving the show!

Yep. I'm holding off on cancelling HBO because of it. The pacing is a lot faster than the book, and they're leaving out some things, shoving some other things in ... but the scenes with Danerys are amazing.

Die A Little , the first of Megan Abbott's 50s crime noir novels with a female POV. The writing's good but it feels more like a literary novel than a crime story so far, with no real incident to move the plot forward almost a quarter of the way in. I'm a sucker for the 1940s and 50s so I'll keep going in any case. Her' covers are great but the Kindle price might be steep for some.

Before I bought a Kindle, I'd only read a single book at a time. Now, I'll often have two or three ongoing, and I'll open one according to my mood.

Currently I'm reading three books:

A Sailor of Austria: In Which, Without Really Intending to, Otto Prohaska Becomes Official War Hero No. 27 of the Habsburg Empire. Someone loaned me the hardback of this some years ago. Having just discovered it in the Kindle store, I'm re-reading it. The humour reminds me somewhat of Conan Doyle's Brigadier Gerard stories.

Dude, You're Gonna Be a Dad!. My wife is pregnant with our second baby. For various reasons, I was rubbish the first time, so this time I'm hoping to be a bit better. It's good to have a book that's aimed at expectant dads, and this one is quite light-hearted.

On Waterloo: Clausewitz, Wellington, and the Campaign of 1815. This one is much heavier than the others. It's very interesting, but I have to be in the mood to be able to cope with it, so progress is slow.
