March 2019's Theme: Non-Male Authors (includes non-binary)

In order for your nomination to be valid, the author MUST be publicly define their gender as either female or non-binary (no attempt to "out" someone or claim private info about an author in order to make this nomination).

Non-binary gender (see also genderqueer) (view spoiler)[describes any gender identity which does not fit the male and female binary. Those with non-binary genders can feel that they:

-Have an androgynous (both masculine and feminine) gender identity, such as androgyne.
-Have an identity between male and female, such as intergender.
-Have a neutral or unrecognized gender identity, such as agender, neutrois, or most xenogenders.
-Have multiple gender identities, such as bigender or pangender.
-Have a gender identity which varies over time, known as genderfluid.
-Have a weak or partial connection to a gender identity, known as demigender.
-Are intersex and identify as intersex, know as amalgagender
Have a culturally specific gender identity which exists only within their or their ancestor's culture.

Non-binary people may also identify as transgender and/or transsexual. The label genderqueer has a lot of overlap with non-binary. Non-binary is often seen as the preferred term, as "queer" may be used as a transphobic insult.

Non-binary people may wish to transition so that their gender expression more closely reflects their internal identity. Many non-binary people wish to appear androgynous and adopt unisex names, gender-neutral titles such as Mx. and/or gender-neutral pronouns, but others prefer to express themselves in ways which are traditionally seen as masculine or feminine or to mix aspects of the two. Nomination Requirements:
-Must have a non-male AUTHOR
-Must be either a standalone, 1st in a series or a series THIS GROUP has already started
-Can be SF, Fantasy, Horror, YA/MG
-Must be available in formats that all members can access

Nominations start now and close 31-Jan-2019 at 3PM EST (eastern standard time).

Nomination Rules:
1) No self-nomination or self-interest nominations (this includes publisher accounts as well as author accounts)
2) No inviting friends or followers or fans to the group to nominate or vote in the poll
3) Mods will validate nominations and results and will announce when validated by broadcast. Any suspicious looking noms or votes will not be counted
4) When nominating a book for a theme, you must include WHY your nomination fits the monthly theme
5) You are REQUIRED to link to the book, using words, and NOT the cover image. This is so all members, including those using the app, can actually read the nominations.

Please NOTE: If anyone is caught inviting friends to order to rig the vote, then it will result in an automatic kickban for all parties.

Female author, and I've been itching to try this for awhile now. It kinda fits in the dark fantasy/grimdark mode, I believe. I did read a short story that was really good from this author and I've been meaning to get to the books ever since.

In my case, definitely more than half are either already on my reading list, already read or of interest, and that's a pretty good hit rate.

Ok well, because apparently I forgot we'd already read it, and the group shelf search isn't actually returning books that are on the shelf correctly, I need to change my nomination. (Booo!)

So I'm changing it to The Gray House by Mariam Petrosyan. It's by a woman, about a living house for people with disabilities. :)
